    The logs for cron are not configured in syslog – however, if you enable remote syslog, and tell it to send "everything" it will also forward the logs for cron to a remote box where you can see them.

    In a cron script, always make sure you use the full path to every command - even date, cp, rm, etc. That or at the start of the script, set your own PATH variable to include the directories where the binaries you need lie.

    The pfSense WAN adapter?
    No. The wan side of pfSense can be a private network.

    johnpoz is correct. Block ALL ports and ONLY allow  the standard ports like 80 and 443.

    I haven't tried blocking hotspotshield with squidguard since i am running squid in transparent mode.

    try doing my suggestion and post your results here.

    You probably need to add routes at sites A and C so that they know how to get to each other: via site B.
    Unless your are pushing routing information or running some routing protocol it's probably easiest to just add them as static routes.

    UPDATE:

    I replace the flash drive with a new one, same crash.  Replaced the Power supply with a beefy 500 watt that is a known good one, still crash.  I took the Sun quad port card nic out and it's been running every since.

    The problem has to be with the card itself or the drivers… SIGH...

    That's not the same problem as Zotek.
    Zotek has client machines that loose internet access when they are rebooted, not pfSense.

    What hardware are you running?

    @stephenw10:

    @johnpoz:

    Why would you not want more features and abilities is the question ;)

    Exactly.  :)
    Since you aren't familiar with managed switches you now have a great learning opportunity. In fact I would think you could use some of the security/separation features that you get in your WISP environment.
    About the only reason not to use a managed switch is that they normally consume more power. In some cases a lot more.

    Steve

    Exactly, am looking forward to learning all about this stuff. What is the security/separation that you mentioned?  Sorry for a simple question i guess, just not sure what you meant.  VLAN's i have heard alot about but dont really understand still or know how they may assist me at all, will need to learn about that

    Thanks. Will try taking it up either with the manufacturer or on another board as suggested. It's probably a limitation of the current firmware tho. Thanks again for the effort.

    I tried disabling NAT.  That simply made things unusable.  Had to reset the device to get it working again.

    In the meantime, I received a reply from Zoom.  Without admitting that the modem/router can't be configured as a bridge, I was advised to purchase just a "modem" that would act in bridge mode.  So, I did that.  I picked up a Cisco DPC3008.  After a bit of fiddling and a couple of calls to Comcast, I've got it working with my NetGate pfSense router.

    Thanks for all the input.  I'm sure you'll be hearing more from me as I try to figure out how to configure the firewall, port forwarding and failover stuff.  I'll try not to be a pest, though.

    Cheers,
    Dave

    Ok, thank you. I'll configure our email-server. I think this feature should be put into feature-wish.
