Setup a VideoCache on pfSense
This howto covers the process of installing videocache on pfSense. Now, you have already installed Squid proxy on pfSense.
1.Firstly, you need to install Python.
•Use Shell terminal or ssh to PFsense and use the following command:

pkg_add -r python

•Install the additional needed libraries.

pkg_add -r py25-bsddb pkg_add -r py25-gdbm pkg_add -r py25-sqlite3 pkg_add -r py25-tkinter

2.After that, install URLGrabber.
•Download the latest version of urlgrabber from URLGrabber Download Archive.

fetch http:/linux.duke.edu/projects/urlgrabber/download/urlgrabber-x.x.x.tar.gz tar -xzf urlgrabber-x.x.x.tar.gz cd urlgrabber-x.x.x python setup.py bdist_rpm python setup.py install

3.Then, install Iniparse.
Download the latest version of python-iniparse from Iniparse Project Website.

fetch http:/iniparse.googlecode.com/files/iniparse-x.x.x.tar.gz tar -xzf iniparse-x.x.x.tar.gz cd iniparse-x.x.x python setup.py bdist_rpm python setup.py install

4.Then, install VideoCache.

fetch http:/cachevideos.com/sites/default/files/pub/videocache/videocache

tar -xvzf videocache-x.x.tar.gz python setup.py install

5.Configure VideoCache
•Using VI edit the /etc/videocache.conf file and edit the following options in the
file.
-proxy: Set the IP address and port on which squid is listening on PFsense.
-cache_host: The IP address of PFsense.
6.Configure Squid
Now add the following lines to /usr/local/pkg/squid.inc after acl.

• Save and restart squid service and you have videocache running on your PFsense.
P/s: You need to disable the https option in the General Setup Settings.

ada tambahan gui delay body max size dan banyak pilihan untuk cache dir
di gabung dengan parent proxy pake racikan om grage95 lebih sip ...

cuma 1 yg msh gagal terus
squid stat belum bisa2 juga ... dasar oon saya  ;D ;D

Jumlah User aktif 200 PC
Bandwidth IIX 100Mpbs INT 5Mbps
Juga Menjalankan Mesin yg bisa di akses keluar ( metode port forwarding dan NAT:1:1)
2 DNS
4 WWW Server dengan hitrate lumayan sekitar 8000 hit rate dan 500 User aktif / day
1 DB Server
1 mail server

pfSene act as
proxy server
squid + squidguard

firewall server
snort

Network Monitoring
ntop + bandwidthd + drakstat

load balancing untuk 4 www server di atas

dengan menggunakan memory 1Gb dan mesin p4 3ghz hardisk ide 80 gb  rakitan ,stable tapi kinerja proxy server kurang gahar selain itu snort sering overdosis hihihih,  tapi setelah pindah ke mesin buildup dengan mesin dual core p4 xeon 3ghz, memory 1gb ,harddisk 73gb scsi kinerja pFsense melesat gahar coyyyy , dan stable , downtime hanya pas upgrade pFsense dan maintenance berkala

jadi menurut pengalaman di atas jangan lupa juga kinerja prosesor dan harddisk juga berpengaruh terhadap pfSense ( apalagi squid butuh proses i/o read write yg cepet kalo mau maksimal )

dan pengalaman yang sangat berkesan bagi ane pribadi, pfsense jadi core sementara juniper jadi failover :) gak selamanya gratisan itu jelek heheheh

Disini ada cara Squid go to multi WAN hanya aku dah coba tapi masih aja nga jalan, tolong klo bisa om2 yang dah jago2 tuk diselidiki….

Gan Yan & Xaviero, yg baik untuk speedynya di set apa ya DHCP/PPPoE/STATIC/PPTP? Trus PFSENSE nya ?

Klo menurut ku sih klo buat Load Balancing bagus na di buat static aja settingan WAN dan OPTn tapi kalo cuman gunakan 1 Line speedy aja pake PPPoE aja supaya kerja modem juga nga terlalu berat… krn untuk pfsense ver. 1.2.x belum support multi PPPoE cappo, kita sama2 tungguin ver. 2.0 nya aja yang katanya sih dah support multi PPPoE...
