    Well I've tried different NICs, problem is still there. Tried to install pfsense using the same CD on P45 mobo,works fine, tried installing Freenas on the same PC that didn't work with pfsense, Freenas installs just fine. I guess Pfsense doesn't support this mobo..

    I can also confirm the patch works. No more kernel panic when rebuilding/degraded RAID. Tested with 1.2.3-20090623.

    Thank you, jimp!

    @jahonix:

    You seem to have an IP conflict.
    Your Linksys router AND your pfSense both have the IP 192.168.1.1 - which doesn't work.
    Using a switch seems to be the easiest to solve this. Don't connect the router at all.

    Okay, seems to be a simple solution. What I figured, thank you.

    I'm going to be needing wireless however. But i'll cross that bridge when I get there. I think it's just a matter of adding a new interface and plugging in the router, I'll research more.

    Thank you  :)

    I think I found the issue, it looks like the virtual firewire interfaces were the problem, when I manually forced the interfaces to be fxp0 and fxp1 it looks like that fixes it. Yay! Thanks for the help

    If you can't move the disk to a temporary machine with a console to do the installation, you could follow these guides to modify the ISO content, and generate a modified ISO, to be burned to a disk as usual or written to a USB flash drive:

    http://forum.pfsense.org/index.php/topic,14763.0.html
    https://secmachine.com/wp/how-tos/construct-usb-installer-freebsd/
    You need a FreeBSD host machine to do this on, but I believe a liveCD would work.  AFAIK, you need to add or change a line:
    comconsole_speed="57600"
    in the /boot/loader.conf file on the ISO.  Not sure why it falls to 9600, since the loader man page indicates it should honor the existing speed:

    comconsole_speed
          Defines the speed of the serial console (i386 and amd64 only).
          If the previous boot stage indicated that a serial console is
          in use then this variable is initialized to the current speed
          of the console serial port.  Otherwise it is set to 9600 unless
          this was overridden using the BOOT_COMCONSOLE_SPEED variable
          when loader was compiled.  Changes to the comconsole_speed
          variable take effect immediately.

    regards ….. Charlie

    @alixman:

    Still don't know of a place to buy a NEW Hitachi Microdrive.

    ebay is a good place to start… Most Retail stores discontinue carrying the Microdrive because they are popular for been energy inefficient driving the batterys of devices like digital cameras down...

    If you in NYC you can try B&H http://www.bhphotovideo.com/

    Take a photo if you have to.  Helping you with partial information is impossible.

    Let's see:

    the output of ifconfig -a

    a list of all physical interfaces on the system (or at least a count)

    OMG! I am sorry (and very tired) - I retyped the name of the script instead of the image file  :-[ - now everything runs well.

    Thank you for pointing this out so quick!  :)
