Ok, I see you have the LAN interface of your 'homelab router' at 10.0.0.X, what is the mask? /24? You mentioned that on PFSense WAN, you gave it an ip in 10.0.0.x (/24??). That sounds OK. I keep wondering about the mask though, as you set PFSense LAN interface 10.1.0.X but if both aren't at least /16 you would have an address conflict, the network address needs to be something other than the 'homelab router' LAN network. How did you set the PFSense IPs, directly at the PFSense console (opening the VM directly in ESXI)? I would go back to PFSense in the ESXI console and confirm that you have 'Assigned Interfaces' correctly. Check that the VMNIC for the PFSense LAN is listed in the VM NETWORK where the VM resides and it corresponds to the correct physical NIC, and that the WAN VMNIC corresponds to the physical NIC that is connected to your home router. I had run PFSense briefly in ESXI 5 years ago when I was testing it out and making sure the right physical NICs are assigned to the WAN/LAN would be where I would start. Once you are sure of that, and that the LAN side has the correct IP and subnet mask, you should be able to reach the webgui.

    Problem solved. You need to set "Westmere" or "kvm64" CPU type instead of host passthrough in libvirt/virsh/kvm/qemu configuration file "virsh edit $vmname" <cpu mode='custom' match='exact' check='none'> <model fallback='allow'>Westmere</model> <topology sockets='1' cores='6' threads='2'/> </cpu>

Kobus, Please let us know how you are doing with configuring your pair of Dell PCs as an HA pair. I have a pair of HP 8300 small form factor PCs that I might want to set up as HA. I haven't looked into it at all until I saw your post. Good luck with the project! Greg

Then you only need firewall rules for pfSense to route that traffic. The respective hosts may refuse it themselves of course. Steve

Even 2.3.5 has been ditched for good. See numerous forum posts about the why .... But, this question posts up a couple of times per week, so, several days ago I found a post that had a link to a place where you could download these ancient versions. So; it's like old artefacts. They are there : you have to dig ^^

@H3lly said in PC wont boot after i installed pfsense.: MSI K8N SLI Platinium That is the correct setup for that board which I don't believe has UEFI BIOS. I would check the SATA mode. Also: https://docs.netgate.com/pfsense/en/latest/hardware/boot-troubleshooting.html Steve

Just like to give an update, downloaded latest USB install "pfSense-CE-memstick-2.4.4-RELEASE-p3-amd64.img" Rufus made a boot-able USB drive from my Kingston 8GB flash drive. Booted fine, but here is the problem: no zfs install option!! So installed it anyway, pfsense is saying no smart errors with the SSD.

@armandelli said in [solved]issue updating package on 2.3.x: Is there anyway to stop this from happening As the warning explains, the GUI part of the packages use a more recent PHP 7.2, the ancient 5.x has been abandoned. 'people' like you and me that make packages like 'Squid for pfSense' follow the latest requirements, because if not, the package becomes useless. These same people do not support 'older versions' (one is already touch enough). Installing recent packages that use the "PHP 7.2" GUI part on an ancient pfSense version (based on 5.x) will break your system.

It is old topic but guys still have problems. I had this problem on Intel quad port card and resolve it with disabling WOL (Wake on LAN) on all Ethernet ports. If you don't know terminal commands you can put your card in windows machine and in properties disable three WOL settings. I think one is disabled by default, but disable all WOLs.

@baggyp said in New to pfSense and am looking for help with my Solarflare 10g card: This is a home box I'm building just to give it a try and am not familiar with pfSense or Linux and any help anyone could provide would be greatly appreciated. pfSense is not running Linux as an OS underneath. It's FreeBSD. If and how your card is working with FreeBSD you have to check there: https://www.freebsd.org/releases/11.1R/hardware.html#ethernet Also have a look at the dmesg output if the card shows up at all.

Well, with a small amount of work I was able to grab the most time-consuming stuff for import: IP aliases and DHCP config (including all the reservations). Works great so far. Now to continue testing and see if the panics I was seeing on the other firewall are hardware-related or (my suspicion) HardenedBSD-related. If I had more time I'd be a true nerd and make a configuration transmogrifier that lets you flip-flop between these two vendors.. :)

@scurrier said in HOW TO: 2.4.0 ZFS Install, RAM Disk, Hot Spare, Snapshot, Resilver Root Drive: @kevindd992002 did you ever find an answer to this? I want to rebuild my system with zfs for more robustness and copies=2 would be some nice additional protection on my single SSD system. Not really. No one from this thread seems to want to talk about this further :(

There is no direct equivalent to sar on FreeBSD that I'm aware of. What is your goal, specifically? There may be a better way to achieve it.

@bryanrh Unfortunately not. Besides which these are two fundamentally different products; the only way to do that sort of migration is by hand.

This is pfSense : The sheer mass has access to your LAN interface More general : I've a couple of dedicated mail/web/fool-around servers on the net, which I consider as the real "mass", for many years now. They all have SSH on port 22. And fail2ban (pfSense has the same facility build in) to deal out "one week" penalties. Btw : more or less fake, but works pretty well just up until now : de activated IPv4 - use only IPv6. You'll experience the silence ... ^^ KIds could use this for ip is 1 to 4294967296 do ... This for ip is 1 to 340282366920938463463374607431768211456 do .... needs more reflection.
