@Smeg.Head I'd think the main question would be whether it's a one-off or reproducible. Obviously that situation isn't correct but it's a question of why, and I haven't seen any other recent posts about it. Was the install done on 2.7.2 or is it older? I don't recall offhand when the bug was, but I'd guess 5-8 years ago.

@Antibiotic No it’s not possible with NtopNG as it is not a Netflow collector. You need nProbe for that which will “translate” recieved netflows into flows that NtopNG understands and can visualize (with very very little detail might I add as Netflows has no additonal information apart from sender/reciever and volume). The NtopNG package and the product in general is more geared towards visualising and recording traffic details from actual packet captures. This contains MUCH more metadata about the sessions than netflows (DNS names, protocol information and myriads of other things). But pffSense Plus has a builtin Netflow exporter if you have an external netflow collector on hand.

@BiloxiGeek said in DNSBL and IPv6: Does it just follow the IPv4 address that is listed above that? In my case it would end up being ::10.0.0.86 Yes. In this specific context that's the notation being used. (Full IPv6 web server address, for reference then, would be: http://[0000:0000:0000:0000:0010:0000:0000:0086]) Nota bene: I use 0.0.0.0 which renders the DNSBL webserver useless and inaccessible, but otherwise returns 0.0.0.0 or ::/NOERROR answers to all blocked lookups.

@jhg said in NUT fails to start after 2.7.2 -> 2.8.0 upgrade: Interesting. I would have thought the initial reboot, which occurred as part of the upgrade, would have done the trick, but it took a second reboot, just now, to get things working. Glad you have it sorted. There was no difference in the output of usbconfig show_ifdrv at any point -- before or after unplugging/replugging the USB cable, nor after rebooting. ... Question: What would tell me whether or not a driver was loaded? If there were an attached driver, it should have shown up with the show_ifdrv command. If you use the command and look at the other usb devices, I think they will show attached drivers. I don't expect to see a driver attached to the ups, because there is a quirk that tells the OS to ignore that device (and not attach a driver). Look for idVendor and idProduct in the above output. The Vendor ID for your device is 0764, which corresponds to Cyber Power Systems, and the Product ID for your device is 0601, which is registered as "PR1500LCDRT2U UPS" (don't sweat an exact match for the name). You can see the quirk with the following command: [25.07-RC][root@fw]/root: usbconfig dump_device_quirks | grep 0764 VID=0x0764 PID=0x0005 REVLO=0x0000 REVHI=0xffff QUIRK=UQ_HID_IGNORE VID=0x0764 PID=0x0501 REVLO=0x0000 REVHI=0xffff QUIRK=UQ_HID_IGNORE VID=0x0764 PID=0x0601 REVLO=0x0000 REVHI=0xffff QUIRK=UQ_HID_IGNORE [25.07-RC][root@fw]/root: Your device is third on the list. The HID_IGNORE quirk says to ignore the device and not attach a driver. @jhg said in NUT fails to start after 2.7.2 -> 2.8.0 upgrade: You might consider adding this resolution to the release notes for 2.8. LOL... sorry, I don't have input to the release notes (I don't work here). While I wrote and maintain various packages, including NUT, I'm still just a volunteer. Most packages are actually written by volunteers.

I have been able to build squid 3.3 on a FreeBSD 8.3 machine and it seems to work ok with a few minor changes.  Even working with squidguard. Needed a few things like the ssl-bump-server-first feature and dynamic certificate generation, plus the request_header_add option. I've been attempting this http://support.google.com/a/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=1668854 but haven't quite managed it yet. I built the squid32 port which pulled all the build dependencies then built 3.3.1 from source.

Thats a good question… It has been a long journey with Snort since it has a lot of problems with PfSense. You helped to make the package significantly better and that helped a lot! A fair guess would be after we had the last discussion and I implemented your fixes.

hi peter, ı think ı have made a mistake in number 4.You should enter your lan subnet as ''source' like 10.0.0.0/24 and dont forget that ''–--'' means your 'default access' setting (allow or deny) in common acl section, if you set it to 'deny', any '----' in your acl's will mean 'deny' here are my settigs that works -I have local user uathentication -ın common acl all  categories are allowed -one group acl for limited (will be blocked) categories for lan subnet 'source' (ex: 10.0.0.0/24) -one group acl allowing all categories for unlimited users(in source section like 'user1' 'user2' )  at the top in 'order' section' so if the user is defined in unlimited group acl the first rule takes over and he gets all access if not second rule takes over and filter rules applied for the 10.0.0.0/24 subnet regardless of username NOTE:be sure that clients use proxy (via manuel browser configuraton or wpad)

somehow whitelist did not work for me. Eventually I edit the snort conf directly and build up  the home_lan  var and exclude the IP range. So far so good.

Is a temp pass. This will only work if you have auto black IP turn on. Example if a IP was blocked due to some rule. By removing it you allow a tmp pass through but if the IP trip the same rule (or other rule) it will get block again. If you add the IP to the WL, Snort will completely skip it.

I don't really want to block SSL for all websites. That would seem to open up security issues. I just want to insure that search sites aren't using it.

I need help with a different aspect of suid 2.  FYI- running latest pf build 2.02 (i386), with latest squid reverse pkg.  I have my reverse prxy configured to serve multiple backend web servers to a single (home) ip.  Both HTTP and HTTPS configured and working…with one exception, java.  Anyhting running a java applet, http or https either times out or fails.  I'm guessing this is not a URL issue.  JIC here is an example of my standard url REGEX (I use a sub-domain for each backend server) :  subdomain.domain.tld(.*)? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Same problem here. I eventually blew my old installation away (Gutted - had served me well for a year) completely in a vain attempt to get this working on the latest version but alas, no joy! Install hangs here:- custom_php_resync_config_command So, i really need this back up and running as I was utilizing the virtual host facility to enable multiple site hosting from the same IP. If anyone can assist in helping to fix this, I shall happily reward 3 bitcoins for this to be resolved. Please msg me at:- b@bitcoinperhour.com **** UPDATE - I managed to get this working, by installing the Proxy Server with mod_security package first and then Apache with mod_security-dev ****
