@jimp: If you connect as root it isn't locked into the menu. The admin login is the one locked into the menu. I haven't tried batch commands with ssh, but doing a one line "shutdown -p now", as the original poster in the thread did, does work. They did it like so : plink -ssh -pw passwd root@192.168.1.1 "/sbin/shutdown -h now" If I use putty to connect to the box and I log in as root, I still get the menu….no command prompt.  how can I remedy this?  it is a stock standard installation of pfsense....

It is very resource-intensive. According to the glTail author, he has done quite a bit of work on optimization but that has not made it into a version that works on windows yet. If you are running Ubuntu or another Linux platform, you might have better luck with the current version from the author's git repo.

What's going on is that the captive port only sees one IP and one MAC. Because the AccessPoint does NAT you cannot see that multiple users are behind it. This is the base principle behind NAT. There is currently no way for you to block something like that. However this thread http://forum.pfsense.org/index.php/topic,10392.0.html is about detecting when someone is using a NAT device.

@fredde: Damn, not bad for a home setup ;), may i ask what you are running on them?. all the BSDs, a couple Linux distros, Windows XP, Vista, Server 2003 and 2008, VMware ESX, and of course plenty of pfSense and some m0n0wall.  There are 51 IPs responding to ping on my internal /21 (split into /24s, VLANs) at this moment. I'll detail it all more later.

It's been fixed.  there was a thread on the mailing list in the past week about it that has details and how you can manually fix.  archive at gmane.org

This information is old. The version 1.2.1 is also based on FreeBSD 7, so it should by now be running with the ULE Scheduler.

Try this on for size. Run this pkg_add -r http://files.pfsense.org/packages/All/sendmail-8.13.8.tbz Then add a mail(); function call to /etc/inc/dyndns.class…I'd do it for you, but I don't have time to incorporate the GUI...

NO! - It hasn't got enough memory for a start, http://forum.pfsense.org/index.php/topic,1712.0.html I think you'll find its only got 32Mb of RAM. How do you propose you'd get the image on there? there is no IDE interface, no USB interface and no CF slot! Stick it in the bin, I did mine…
