No, this is the method of transferring the location of config.xml.  Not backing it up.  Backing it up is only available via the web interface.

web and mail is only a bunch of single ports. I would use VIPs with portforwarding for port smtp, pop3, http (https, imap, …if neeeded) and advanced outbound NAT on top. Then enable nat reflection at system>advanced and your lan clients will even be able to access your webserver and mailserver by the public IP.

Sounds like freebsd doesn't support that device?

I have som nexcom 1041c in production, also as CARP cluster. Very nice units. I use both, CF and HDD installs with my units. I summed up some informations how to configure bios and so on for the nexcoms in an earlier mail: http://marc.theaimsgroup.com/?l=pfsense-support&m=113688606829411&w=2

The only thing not so nice when you want to install to hdd is that you have to temporarily mount a ide cdrom to the unit and therefore have to remove the unit from the rack if you want to reinstall it.

Has anyone else attempted to perform an upgrade of a running system from 1.0b3 to 1.0b4?  I've tried it on two boxes; both failed to boot after the upgrade due to what appeared to be an invalid disk configuration of some sort.  I don't know BSD very well, so I'm not sure exactly what the problem was…  but I've been able to reproduce the issue, if that matters.

If it's something as simple as we shouldn't be using the firmware upgrades until the first actual release of 1.0, then I apologize in advance.

I upgraded effortlessly (done in 5 mins) through the System: Firmware webpage. I have a dual WAN setup (OPT1 is WAN2)

You are most likely correct but this is a linux specific program.  pfSense is not linux.

what i did is a complete (fresh) install of beta-4 - even though it errored on install on that cpdup what i did is get on it's http
and did a firmware upgrade of beta-4 (the full version) and now it seems to all work ok except im again stuck with the first problem -
the captive portal still doesnt display any images…

so we're back to point a.

I'm using IE 6.0 or Maxton. I will try with firefox at the next update. It would not be strange that the problem comes from IE ;-)
