Are you running on a cfcard/flash media ? https://doc.pfsense.org/index.php/Remount_embedded_filesystem_as_read-write If you aren't running flash media, then you should consider reinstalling the full version & not the embedded one

What hardware are you using? It all works fine here, virtual, hardware, upgrade, clean install, all works with no problems. Even a CF card still works.

Hey all, Thanks for the port info. :) I avergage roughly 2mbit/s and no  matter how slow/bad it's implemented I hope pfsense than can manage that on joint interfaces. I have 3U heights available, 2 Server and 1 Pfsense so I cant afford (space) another appliance. pfsense does not have to excell, it just should perform. There might be spike ranging up to 1gb/s but that's bulk transfer and if thats a little slower no one would notice :) -Chris.

@PiBa: The part i don't understand is why http works and https doesnt, regarding firewallrules and passing it there should be no difference between the two.. Also your blocked traffic shows both source and destination to be a local ip.. Would expect one of them to be using the remote ip.. No packages like snort or squid performing traffic interception/inspection/blocking? or traffic shaping/limiting? Take a look at /tmp/rules.debug are there any rules present for https / 443 that might interfere and are not there for http / 80 ? The problem is that I did not do the installation for this box, so I do not know what the first admin did. There are three boxes in three youth clubs, all with the same configuration. Two of them have not had any problem since I have taken over administration, this one had a lot of problems all the time. Now I have also lost connection to the box,so I can not check the rules at the moment. I think i must go to the club and pick it up. Maybe I should do a fresh install and start from the scratch. It is an Alix box, if I am right one has to install Nano-BSD. I think I need a console cable for Nano-BSD installation, so I will order one and try a fresh install. Anyway I will be away for some days; I will keep you updated about the further outcome when I am back. Again, thanks a lot for your ongoing support!

Yep… enc can not be used in replacing igb, so triple check that also, but in general you should replace it with your new interface, ex em0 or whatever else

Another thing you may want to do at some point is go through the BIOS and disable everything that is not needed.

Hey mbi,  I was out of the office for a few days so I have not investigated this fully, but I did find one thing that fixed my issue.  I do not know if it will help your situation, but is something to consider. The order of the DNS servers I had listed seemed to create the problem for me (I haven't looked into why yet). The following order of DNS servers DID cause this package update issue.   internal lan dns server   isp dns server 1   isp dns server 2   google dns server The following order immediately resolved the package update issue.   isp dns server 1   isp dns server 2   google dns server   internal lan dns server So for me, just moving my internal lan dns server to the bottom of the list made the error go away.  I tested this back and forth a couple of times to make sure it was the only change I made to resolve my issue.  As I mentioned, I haven't investigated this further to understand why, and the rest of my configuration may be way different from yours.  But it may give you help. Jeff

I had this issue before. My problem was when I wrote 64bit image to CF card and try to boot on 32bit system. There is no output indicating compatibility issue. It just stuck on bios screen. Got mad, thought pfSense was issue or my system was not reading the CF card. Or image never wrote to CF card. Put CF card back on computer and saw files on the CF card. Vs when installing from CD/DVD the 64bit image will prompt error that 32bit system does not support long version. Learned after several trial and error, the error was on my end. Ensure you downloaded the 32bit CF version for 32bit system. Ensure you downloaded the correct version for your system.

The key part there is where is the device connected that cannot reach the plex server. If it's connected to the switch then that's in the same subnet as the plex server so traffic doesn't go through the firewall at all. If it's connected to a different port on the x550e then you need firewall rules to access between the internal ports. If it's connected to the router then you would need port forwards setup in pfSense to reach the server behind it. Steve
