That is great I will look into doing that. The box virtual so we were able to revert back to a snapshot as I wasn't sure what was causing the issue and it has 2GB allocated to it. I will attempt it through the console. Thanks for the input

Search for WebPorts in: /tmp/rules.debug /cf/conf/config.xml The alias type is "port" and its defined name is: "Web Servers" There is some confusion there - am expecting you to have a normal IP alias WebServers and a port alias WebPorts. Post screenshots of the alias edit page(s) and the related rule so we can try and understand what might be happening.

it's probably just the usbmodeswitch is not updated yet to work on your usb modem. you can try sending a AT command on the huawei modem to set it as a modem mode only instead of hybrid mode (eg CD+Memstick >> Drivers and dashboard detected to be installed >> CD+Memstick+Data).

It will probably still need internet if there are any packages involved at all.

Judging by that last error, the disk is failing or otherwise has a problem being written. Could be a cable or controller, but more often than not it's the disk itself.

You can upgrade in one step. Look over the release notes and upgrade guide, but if you're in a VM then the risk is minimal. 1. Take a config backup 2. Snapshot the VM 3. Remove ALL packages 4. Upgrade to the current version 5. Add packages back 6. Snapshot the VM again 7. Take another config backup Changes to things in the base system are handled automatically by upgrade code. You shouldn't have to worry about much of anything related to Captive Portal or DNS coming from 2.2.x. Maybe you might have to add a zone parameter if you have custom captive portal html but there are plenty of references around to check that. If you had the DNS Forwarder active before, it will still be active on the current version. That didn't change for upgrades, the default changed for new users. (And it changed for 2.2, not 2.3, so you're already past that).

Are you running on a cfcard/flash media ? https://doc.pfsense.org/index.php/Remount_embedded_filesystem_as_read-write If you aren't running flash media, then you should consider reinstalling the full version & not the embedded one

What hardware are you using? It all works fine here, virtual, hardware, upgrade, clean install, all works with no problems. Even a CF card still works.

Hey all, Thanks for the port info. :) I avergage roughly 2mbit/s and no  matter how slow/bad it's implemented I hope pfsense than can manage that on joint interfaces. I have 3U heights available, 2 Server and 1 Pfsense so I cant afford (space) another appliance. pfsense does not have to excell, it just should perform. There might be spike ranging up to 1gb/s but that's bulk transfer and if thats a little slower no one would notice :) -Chris.

@PiBa: The part i don't understand is why http works and https doesnt, regarding firewallrules and passing it there should be no difference between the two.. Also your blocked traffic shows both source and destination to be a local ip.. Would expect one of them to be using the remote ip.. No packages like snort or squid performing traffic interception/inspection/blocking? or traffic shaping/limiting? Take a look at /tmp/rules.debug are there any rules present for https / 443 that might interfere and are not there for http / 80 ? The problem is that I did not do the installation for this box, so I do not know what the first admin did. There are three boxes in three youth clubs, all with the same configuration. Two of them have not had any problem since I have taken over administration, this one had a lot of problems all the time. Now I have also lost connection to the box,so I can not check the rules at the moment. I think i must go to the club and pick it up. Maybe I should do a fresh install and start from the scratch. It is an Alix box, if I am right one has to install Nano-BSD. I think I need a console cable for Nano-BSD installation, so I will order one and try a fresh install. Anyway I will be away for some days; I will keep you updated about the further outcome when I am back. Again, thanks a lot for your ongoing support!

I think everybody in thread are interested in answer on question: Do you really need to reboot it, patrick0525?
