Huh, interesting, since I just installed the package and it showed as installed correctly, but there is no service listed and no menu.  Weird.  Any thoughts where it might be hiding?

@luckman212: I see a few days ago the port was marked 'deprecated' since it has been failing to build for >6 months, and is now set to EXPIRE on 2/29/16 … http://www.freshports.org/net/ntopng/ not sure what happens exactly when it 'expires' but doesn't sound good. but, in the ntopng github repo I see some recent activity that does look encouraging... https://github.com/ntop/ntopng/issues/297 https://github.com/ntop/ntopng/commit/a4cb3b257d2dfc5d83db36f941eed6e7f433ece0 so maybe it is not far off ::) Not only that, but a maintainer wants to complete it, but needs some help. I'm not at all used to compiling/bsd, so i can't really do anything helpful.

I solved it by deleting vnstat, rebooting the router, then reinstalling vnstat. Not sure what happened or why this fixed it. Maybe a file was corrupted and locked.

@vizi0n: Hi, I am trying to permanently change an option in my vnstat.conf file (add the "UnitMode 1" option) to go along with my ISP monitoring. Why does it keep overwriting the file everytime I enable/disable the php frontend on the config page? I have tried adding an XML option to add the UnitMode tag but it doesnt seem like I'm doing it right. Does anyone have a solution for me? I don't want to leave the php frontend enabled as it is not password protected on the net I have finally found it. It's in "/usr/local/pkg/vnstat2/vnstat2.inc". I changed it there so it always overwrites with the hardcoded option. 1 problem at a time! :)

hello! i installed bandwidthd recently an quickly ran into the problems described here, so i reinstalled my pfsense-box today from scratch and it crashed immediately upon package reinstall. my box is a pc-engines apu and i installed the embedded-serial-4g-amd64 image. then i restored the config file ond the following message appeared on the serial terminal: One moment please, reinstalling packages... >>> Trying to fetch package info... Done. >>> List of packages to reinstall: bandwidthd ERROR: can't find installed pbi (bandwidthd-2.0.1_6-amd64) Removing package... Starting package deletion for bandwidthd-2.0.1_6-amd64...done. Removing bandwidthd components... Configuration... done. done. Beginning package installation for bandwidthd . 100% Installing bandwidthd and its dependencies. 100% 100%Enter full pathname of shell or RETURN for /bin/sh: # the firewall seems to work as expected but it never signalled to be ready with it's little tune. the webgui is running and shows the 'packages are being reinstalled' sign, the cpu load is above 50%. bandwidthd is configured to write to an external postgres-db only and it is bound to collect data on a bridge-interface, maybe that is important. trying to reboot from the webgui plays the tune, then the webgui crashes but the system doesn't reboot. rebooting via ssh works. after a reboot the system seems to work without a problem (there are 2 bandwidthd processes) but trying to restart bandwidthd kills php-fpm immediately. after restarting php-fpm via ssh bandwidthd is stopped and after starting there is just one process. cpu-load is below 10%. i'm glad the system at least boots again after the fresh install. before the reinstall php-fpm got killed during startup and i never got a dhcp address on wan, so i had to connect via ssh to lan and restart php-fpm. i hope to help the mysteries of this problem a little, bandwidthd seems to be a very usefull program. feel free to ask for more details! regards, andy

Directly looking at the Makefile of Ntop in FreeBSD @Ports the URW fonts package is marked as a dependency: LIB_DEPENDS=    libgdbm.so:${PORTSDIR}/databases/gdbm \                 libevent.so:${PORTSDIR}/devel/libevent2 BUILD_DEPENDS=  rrdtool>=1.2:${PORTSDIR}/databases/rrdtool \                 dot:${PORTSDIR}/graphics/graphviz \                 geoiplookup:${PORTSDIR}/net/GeoIP RUN_DEPENDS:=  ${BUILD_DEPENDS} \                 urwfonts>0:${PORTSDIR}/x11-fonts/urwfonts this can be installed with: pkg install urwfonts. I haven't narrowed this down yet 100% but am working on it, since this isn't a fix but getting closer I feel…. (as have just started with PFsense though I know FreeBSD pretty well). Also under the path: /usr/pbi/ntop-amd64/local/fonts/conf.d there is a file called: 30-urw-aliases.conf whose contents look like this: <fontconfig><alias binding="same"><family>Zapf Dingbats</family>   <accept><family>Dingbats</family></accept></alias> <alias binding="same"><family>ITC Zapf Dingbats</family>   <accept><family>Dingbats</family></accept></alias> <match target="pattern"><test name="family" compare="eq" ignore-blanks="true"><string>Symbol</string></test>   <edit name="family" mode="append" binding="same"><string>Standard Symbols L</string></edit></match></fontconfig> I think (though I maybe totally wrong) that this might have something to do with the fonts not displaying…. as in a missing symlink or path location to the urw font package?? Still investigating however.....

Hello, I would like to use my Synology as repository for Bandwidthd but I only find mariadb as standard package. Would this be compatible ? Or would you have another idea ? Tx

Hey newb!  Most of us has been poked by dok at least once, it's part of pfsense initiation.  :o  Just look at how much he gives to the community.  Very valuable. My Advice: pfSense is wonderfully open; find what works for your and make it work the best you can!  For me, it was keeping version specific, using limited packages and then thoroughly dog fooding any changes / updates before deploying to any sites. Good luck and welcome aboard.

@KOM: rm -r /usr/local/sarg-reports ln -s /usr/pbi/sarg-amd64/local/sarg-reports /usr/local/sarg-reports ls -l /usr/local/sarg-reports So what are you actually fixing there? Why not create the symlink the other way round so that there's no need to wipe the reports and so that reports are not gone when reinstalling the package?
