Well, from what I read it sounded like the ICH7 controller was supported, but it's not on the HCL….so does anyone have some suggestions on an inexpensive sata controller card that works with pfsense?  I have a couple adaptec 2410s that I just tried and they work fine, but I don't have enough for all 4 machines and these are a little over kill since I wasn't planning on running a raid. Thanks

Yes, I have been using the ones supplied. They have worked fine so far. I bench tested this setup in our office. The temp was ~74'. I ran it there for about 2 weeks prior to deployment. So temp doesn't seam to be an issue.

It will happen in due time as we upgrade to newer FreeBSD versions.

the kernel tries to set transfer based on a weird guess :P check the BIOS settings for the drives, switch off DMA if on, turn on a lower PIO mode and try to reboot?

Thanks!!! Looks like I will be going with the Compaq cards then.  They will be going in brand new core 2 duo machines, so I shouldn't have any problems…..hopefully. Thanks again.

kernel/75710 has a patch which doesn't completely fix the issue, and seems to be orphaned. the cue driver does seem to be dead.

I found a guy that is going to sell me a 512mb stick of RAM for $15 shipped.  That should get the build that I am working on for my folks where it needs to be. Honestly I don't really know a whole lot about snort.  When I had my IPCop box I just turned it on, and subscribed to the Sourcefire VRT rules. This is the first that I have heard of ac-bnfa mode, but it sounds cool.  I'll check it out I'm not even sure if I need snort for my home network.  I never realized that it was such a resource drain.  Added protection is nice, but my main concern is speed.

Normally a WRAP can do more like 30 Mb, and has enough RAM to handle 60-80K states depending on what other features you use. Maybe monomon puts so much load on it that it can't do more than that, if you shut down monomon do things get better?

I have some C7-based embedded hardware that works great, never tried those though. If you get one, let us know how it goes.
