    @stephenw10 & @mer,

It is just nice to not have a red flashing light in the meantime. Annoying as flan.

I could pull the ONU out of the Huawei and use that

    It's a GPON SFP+ module?

If it doesn't even link it may not be possible. Are you able to try it in anything else? A media converter perhaps?

Beyond that I'd be looking a local user groups who might have tried something similar with other firewalls.

@stephenw10 thanks so much! I upgraded from 2.4.5 to 21.05.2 successfully, then upgraded to 22.01 successfully.
Next week I'll try out the Snort package, but will keep an eye on the CPU/memory usage after doing so. If it seems to push it too much I'll remove it. Wish I would've purchased a 2100 now. Regardless, thank you for your help and your heads up on the Snort package.

The ports on the 6100 are only labeled WAN/LAN you can use any port for any purpose. That is, you can use the 2.5G ports for WANs or LANs. It's got 4x 2.5G ports, 2x 10G SFP, and 2x 1G combo ports. So the only thing it doesn't have on your specs is one additional 10G SFP port.

Sounds like it's probably a bad port then. Not much can be done if it's not obviously damaged.

@mcury And what does the mmc program tell you for the life?

    You mean mmc-utils package - pkg install mmc-utils ?
I'll check then update the other topic

Might be best to reply in that other thread as I feel we're digressing a bit off this one...? I don't want to hijack the original question.

You are right... Won't polute this anymore :)

Yeah, I reviewed it with the support agent and we agreed it was an issue that required further testing of the hardware.

@stephenw10 Okay, thanks for the info. I'll keep on with the 5100 for now. It would be nice to see some PPS support return whenever the next generation happens...

If it posts, get the recoveryimage an try to re-image it, to find out if it can be salvaged.

not necessarily, it has come back 4-5 times however it has taken up to 3 days for it to come back.

But that makes no difference - it’s still useless, and just waiting for it to come back online makes no sense. You need to re-image it to see if it’s actually hardware thats defective, or just the OS/Filesystem/install that is broken

If you created the symlink you can just wait for the next release. Either that or the patch will restore the LED function and neither will cause a problem at the next update.

I'm not aware of an issue with WoL on the 5100, do you have a redmine number? Or a link to previous discussion.

WoL is not a function the 5100 is expected to have, it's untested. It may work.

I powered the unit down via IPMI, and powered it back on, no go.

Mmm, that may not be sufficient. Because the NIC remains at some level still powered when the unit is shutdown it may not clear that state. We have seen devices they required removing power entirely to reset. Obviously that would only be possible if you have remote access switched power of some kind. or with on-site hands.
It seems more like the module itself but I can't see why it wouldn't be supported in 22.01 when it was in 21.05.
