@lightning-snail Creating the interface involves choosing the VLAN. Off the pf OPT port it would be untagged if you don't make the VLAN first and choose the VLAN in the association. Check the process you follow.

@johnpoz I do know Telus (ISP) does have access down to their equipment level for customer support. They are required to ask permission to go any further. I have worked with some of their customer support personnel who had difficulty speaking the same language. The only thing I know is at this point if I return to default Interfaces WAN -> Reserved Networks -> Private (Block enabled) then the SG-1100 will not pass traffic through the device. It is baffling as the default setting are only enable after considerable research. I would like to find a better answer on this.

Ah, sorry if I misunderstood. re: network alias, that can be one IP by using a /32 mask.

The SG-1100 does not have an RTC battery. pfSense will bootstrap the system clock at boot from a number of sources, whatever is most recent. Here it would have been the last filesystem time stamp. Once it has a WAN connection it will update using ntp. That doesn't explain why it was asking you to assign interfaces though. That would normally only happen if an assigned interface is no longer present. If you had used a USB Etherner device and then disconnected it for example. Steve

@fsc830 ? hum... no. WAN is connected to ISP, my laptop is connected to LAN. I believe that what the line in the console meant is that WAN DHCP gave the SG-1100 an IP adress that was 192.168.0.108 and that meant that SG-1100 and ISP router were able to communicate and the laptop further down the line was now able to communicate with SG-1100 using that IP. I have done and complete the basic setup of my device now, using the web interface as it is supposed. My issue is now resolve, device works as intended, many thanks to all who responded to me! Cheers, Café!

@adamw @adamw said in Netgate 3100- PHP-FPM inaccessible after 22.01 upgrade: 1 USB Device(s) found scanning usb for storage devices... 0 Storage Device(s) found This is the indicator that the Marvell BIOS hasn't found the plugged-in ethernet device. It's not the panacea indicator (there really isn't one) but it's a leading indicator that there's going to be an issue trying to install. Tips for others when they hit this: You do not need to power-cycle the pf (this applies to all ARM-based Netgate products). Re-image the USB and try again with the command usb reset and if the storage devices pop-up with 1 (or more) you can proceed with the recovery command. You can also try to change ports and use the same command. The USB ports aren't hot-swappable at the BIOS level so the usb reset command will reload the devices plugged in and re-present them to the loader.

If the LEDs are flashing in sequence like that then it is trying boot. The time period of the loop means it's almost certainly a filesystem damage issue. So you should definitely be seeing some output at the console. Make sure it's using com3. Make sure you're using the correct settings: https://docs.netgate.com/pfsense/en/latest/solutions/sg-3100/connect-to-console.html Once you have a working console connection you can either re-install or attempt to escape the loop using fsck: https://docs.netgate.com/pfsense/en/latest/troubleshooting/filesystem-check.html#manual-filesystem-check Steve

I would definitely use the 6100 there. You might well end up with packages or traffic shaping on the firewall and the additional CPU cores will probably be required. Steve

Yes it looks like some data was inadvertently carried over from the 6100 there. Thanks for pointing it out, we are reviewing and updating pages now. And for clarity, yes, the 4100 has a single m.2 slot that intended for storage only. Steve

Yes, I agree. ~1Gbps routing/NAT/filtering with pfBlocker and Snort/Suricata is definitely a 6100, at least. Steve

Yep, got a TAC lite free software subscription, asked for the 22.01 pfsense+ firmware on a ticket and had it in less than 30 minutes! The memstick reinstall fixed the issue. Brilliant! Thanks NETGATE!!!
