@stephenw10 Roger that... I am thinking of getting an intel based CPU unit for the pfsense+ 22.01.. I've had nothing but issues with this unit. I may not be 100% geek level on pfsense+ but this should have been simple and follow proper methodologies. Thank you Steve!!!!

The 10G PHYs can use a Watt or two with SFP+ modules in. The one I have here is using ~15W on the same meter but it's 'fully loaded'. Yes, it's very similar to the 6100 so most of the issues had already been solved. The sort of things we saw in development were due to the differences, like the omission of the first two ix NICs from the SoC. Steve

Not right now, as far as I know. Check the Partner Locator to find the nearest vendor: https://www.netgate.com/partner-locator#middle-east Steve

Nice video , but I guess this is only an advise how to proceed after the power cycle!? Because appliance was unresponsive there was no chance to run a file system check in advance. Finally done the fsck, looking forward, if such behaviour will reoccur in future. Regards

Are you able to try it in anything else? A media converter perhaps? Beyond that I'd be looking a local user groups who might have tried something similar with other firewalls. Steve

@stephenw10 thanks so much! I upgraded from 2.4.5 to 21.05.2 successfully, then upgraded to 22.01 successfully. Next week I'll try out the Snort package, but will keep an eye on the CPU/memory usage after doing so. If it seems to push it too much I'll remove it. Wish I would've purchased a 2100 now. Regardless, thank you for your help and your heads up on the Snort package. Jamie

The ports on the 6100 are only labeled WAN/LAN you can use any port for any purpose. That is, you can use the 2.5G ports for WANs or LANs. It's got 4x 2.5G ports, 2x 10G SFP, and 2x 1G combo ports. So the only thing it doesn't have on your specs is one additional 10G SFP port.

Sounds like it's probably a bad port then. Not much can be done if it's not obviously damaged. Steve

@steveits said in New Netgate Appliance for IPS/IDS: @mcury And what does the mmc program tell you for the life? You mean mmc-utils package - pkg install mmc-utils ? I'll check then update the other topic Might be best to reply in that other thread as I feel we're digressing a bit off this one...? I don't want to hijack the original question. You are right... Won't polute this anymore :)

Yeah, I reviewed it with the support agent and we agreed it was an issue that required further testing of the hardware. Steve

@rustydusty1717 said in SG-1100: @keyser said in SG-1100: If it posts, get the recoveryimage an try to re-image it, to find out if it can be salvaged. not necessarily, it has come back 4-5 times however it has taken up to 3 days for it to come back. But that makes no difference - it’s still useless, and just waiting for it to come back online makes no sense. You need to re-image it to see if it’s actually hardware thats defective, or just the OS/Filesystem/install that is broken
