Hello team, I have a Netgate 8200 running 24.11-RELEASE (amd64) with Suricata 7.0.8_5 package installed. Suricata doesn't seem to start. It loops to red once I press the Play button on the interface. It leaves no logs in the System logs, it leaves no logs in suricata.log at /var/log/suricata/suricata_ovpns933787/suricata.log I tried launching it manually: # /usr/local/bin/suricata -V or # /usr/local/bin/suricata -c /usr/local/etc/suricata/suricata_33787_ovpns9/suricata.yaml -i suricata_ovpns933787 and I get this output ld-elf.so.1: /usr/local/bin/suricata: Undefined symbol "__strlcpy_chk@FBSD_1.8" Thanks in advance, Dara

@kabeda If memory serves, that old version of ntopng did not run as user ntopng, but as user nobody. There are lots of problems in that old version. Anyway, check the ownership and permissions of /var/db/ntopng and make sure it matches the user that ntopng runs as. You may need to set ownership of the entire hierarchy. Example: /usr/sbin/chown -R nobody:nobody /var/db/ntopng However, the better choice would be to upgrade to a more recent version.

@shady28 Click on the round "I" for more info. After reading, you'll know now that "unbound mode" is the old legacy mode, it's advised to use Python mode which : Is faster Is faster to reload Offers more options Etc.

@agitelzon I have no issue connecting to LE servers from pf shell. The issue is cloudflare security setting is configured as a whitelist for api zone record changes. The whitelist includes my ipv4 address only, as a /32. As I mentioned, I could add the ipv6 prefix as a /64. Given that pf is configured to prefer ipv4, I thought that would carry over to acme as well.

@lbm_ I have the same problem: pfSense v25.07.1 on FreeBSD 15-Current, Netgate 6100. Could you let me know if you found a solution? I haven't. I have been updating Tailscales from Freshports while keeping the Tailscale Package installed. I have recently read that this can cause problems with routes, interfaces, firewall rules, and others. I am leaning towards deleting the Tailscale package.

@tinfoilmatt Thanks! I have done that and it worked when forcing just her TV out the Centurylink.. My problem is my local box here. Im missing something because I can not get it to pass traffic from the WAN to the Wireguard tunnel. Ive got some time today so will chip away on my lab setup to see if I can finally accomplish it here first.

It's worth noting that DNS validation via DNSMadeEasy doesn't seem to work: https://forum.pfsense.org/index.php?topic=125946.0 https://forum.pfsense.org/index.php?topic=126025.0

Nevermind… In shell "pkg install libpcap" fixed. Your repo guys might want to check dependencies or something for the snort package, as that should have been installed along with snorts other dependencies. Thanks.

It'd help to state what exactly you want to do that isn't supported. Other than that, you cannot do that, the GUI config will overwrite your manual configuration. So, if counters were not supported by the GUI, there'd be nothing to overwrite.

Hmmm? I don't think there're really anything different here, the CA that issued the certificate needs to be trusted.

Thanks Jimp, The pfsense is actually running within Vmware, so I can't think it is anything physical. It does have the vmware guest tools on as well. I am liking the looks of this service watchdog though, that would cover up this issue for the time being and keep us going. Hoping you are right in suggesting this is a bug, we have two instances both on the same versions, same vmware environment and only this one is failing. Maybe this is something we will just have to see how it plays out. It had been working fine until recently. S

I've used cron to maintain the timer. So far so good. I googled a lot and looks like cron is not so common but known method for resetting BMC watchdogs. So I think it's good enough and freeipmi not needed for the moment. Thanks Jim for pointing me to the ipmitool!

Akha666 I had the same problem. Please consider that you should choose symbols allowed in pfsense: Password must be initialize with letters (Ex: Change123), valid format: [a-zA-Z/][a-zA-Z0-9/_-./:%+?=&]

@sbeaver could help with that, perhaps… There's really nothing that could be done for the package except for adding the description, which has already been done. The package code is the same, mobile or not. Just a XML file.

@Vetal: @Mr.: @Vetal: But to install the package… "sudo apt-get install" is near a minor detail of everyday work of anyone related to networks or such... I've been installing ports for decades like this. Yesterday I did: sudo apt-get install facebook And that is now neatly running on my pfSense 2.6.8. Amazing environment, OS/2. Microsoft should get very afraid. Wow, how that smart! Really, can impress 13 y.o. on geeks party. Do you think I will try to justify to prove anything for the folks who ready to start class on Debian vs BSD package management to show their smart a**? "Install a package", that's my point, get better/bigger point next time, my boring friend. Friend is a title I reserve for people I like.
