@NRgia said in Suricata on Pfsense: @bmeeks Thank you for what you did for Snort or Suricata. I'm not sure what you want me to do on Redmine, due to is a bug tracker. My question is for Product Management, which I will ask it here to be public: What is the plan for these 2 packages, Suricata and Snort? Thank you Yes, Redmine is for both bug reports and feature requests. Asking for the Suricata binary to be updated to the latest 7.0.11 version from upstream is a legitimate Redmine request. I would suggest simply asking for the binary version update instead of asking about future Netgate strategy (such as the support plans for the packages). Strategy discussions typically don't get very far because they deal with proprietary information or plans that a company may not want to publicly discuss. Redmine is where the Netgate developer team tracks all the code changes they make for pfSense. They will see Redmine reports much quicker than a forum post.

@Leon-Straathof Data retention settings are handled inside of ntopng. Documentation here. Pay attention to the RRD note. Also, if you've turned on some of the slice and dice time series information (is off by default), I'd suggest turning them back off. These balloon the storage requirements and are of little actual use.

@tinfoilmatt said in Failed or invalid Mime Type: [application/SIMH-tape-data|0]: (ASN data is IPinfo, not Maxmind) Thats correct but "GeoLite2-Country" is from Maxmind ... (that confused me) I'm considering simply adding "application/SIMH-tape-data" to the list to test. Thats what i tought too ... I'll try when I have the time for it ... Edit: I can confirm - adding "application/SIMH-tape-data" to the list at line 257 in /usr/local/pkg/pfblockerng/pfblockerng.inc did the trick - no more error! Edit: OK, problem resolved but I would like to know, whats the cause for that error! (SIMH-tape-data sounds like a "blast from the past" ...) Thanks a lot!

@jhg said in NUT fails to start after 2.7.2 -> 2.8.0 upgrade: Interesting. I would have thought the initial reboot, which occurred as part of the upgrade, would have done the trick, but it took a second reboot, just now, to get things working. Glad you have it sorted. There was no difference in the output of usbconfig show_ifdrv at any point -- before or after unplugging/replugging the USB cable, nor after rebooting. ... Question: What would tell me whether or not a driver was loaded? If there were an attached driver, it should have shown up with the show_ifdrv command. If you use the command and look at the other usb devices, I think they will show attached drivers. I don't expect to see a driver attached to the ups, because there is a quirk that tells the OS to ignore that device (and not attach a driver). Look for idVendor and idProduct in the above output. The Vendor ID for your device is 0764, which corresponds to Cyber Power Systems, and the Product ID for your device is 0601, which is registered as "PR1500LCDRT2U UPS" (don't sweat an exact match for the name). You can see the quirk with the following command: [25.07-RC][root@fw]/root: usbconfig dump_device_quirks | grep 0764 VID=0x0764 PID=0x0005 REVLO=0x0000 REVHI=0xffff QUIRK=UQ_HID_IGNORE VID=0x0764 PID=0x0501 REVLO=0x0000 REVHI=0xffff QUIRK=UQ_HID_IGNORE VID=0x0764 PID=0x0601 REVLO=0x0000 REVHI=0xffff QUIRK=UQ_HID_IGNORE [25.07-RC][root@fw]/root: Your device is third on the list. The HID_IGNORE quirk says to ignore the device and not attach a driver. @jhg said in NUT fails to start after 2.7.2 -> 2.8.0 upgrade: You might consider adding this resolution to the release notes for 2.8. LOL... sorry, I don't have input to the release notes (I don't work here). While I wrote and maintain various packages, including NUT, I'm still just a volunteer. Most packages are actually written by volunteers.

Buypass is shutting down their free ACME service: https://community.buypass.com/t/y4y130p Not sure how many (if any) users may be getting their ACME certificates from Buypass, but it is supported in the package, so that number may be non-zero. If you are getting your certificates from Buypass, now is the time to switch to another CA.

@Gertjan - I get that. I have seen that. My concern is this used to work, but suddenly it stopped, and I started seeing this message in the logs. Maybe this question should be posed in an OpenVPN forum?

I believe he is referring to assigning those NICs as interfaces in pfSense (e.g. through the Web Gui -> Interfaces -> Assignments). You should only have the WAN (ngeth0) a LAN (that is not the one the RG is hanging off of), and any other OPT interfaces you may have (that are not igb0/igb1).

Hi, The answer starts here : https://www.pfsense.org/download/ Where did you get that old version from ? Surely not the official source. Now you know that you use an old pfSense version, you're close to the final answer : when a new version comes out, there are some notes. See here https://www.netgate.com/blog/pfsense-2-4-5-release-p1-now-available.html and focus on "Upgrade Notes". You will find Do not update packages before upgrading pfSense! Either remove all packages or do not update packages before running the upgrade.> So : upgrade pfSense first. That's easy as it can upgrade itself. Visit the pfSEnse dachboard : it will tell you it needs an update. If you want to use packages, that's not some optional choice any more. So, go ahead. Again, read the Notes first. Always. For every new version. For ever. Then installing packages won't be an issue any more. Btw : see it like this : do not install a "Windows 10" app on a "Windows 7 or 8" PC. That won't work. Added to that : packages are mostly written by volunteers. The always 'support' the latest version, not all the xxx older versions (to much work).

Upgrade to 2.4.5-p1. It's a VM, there is no reason to stay on such an old version. If it's a 32-bit VM, you'll need to make a new 64-bit VM and redeploy, and when you do, just give it a larger disk. Alternately: Increase the size of the disk in the hypervisor touch /root/force_growfs Reboot the VM I can't remember when that was added, might have been after 2.3.x.

pfSense does not include the bash shell by default. If that isn't a plain sh script, then you have to install bash and explicitly run it through bash. For example, pkg install -y bash and then change the shabang line to #!/usr/local/bin/bash.

Hello, I seem to be running into the same thing, and can confirm that it seems to be related to using Nut. I have 9 SG-3100's that don't have UPS's so don't run Nut. And 6 that are hooked up to cyberpower UPS's and use nut + usbhid to monitor the UPS. Two firewalls locked up today out of memory after 13 days of uptime. I am using memdisks on all of them, so I probably have less available kmem than the poster, so my lockups are happening faster. Sample of sysctl vm.kmem_map_free on firewalls not running nut All have ramdisk setup for /tmp and /var 2.4.4-Release-p3 vm.kmem_map_free: 110714880 2.4.5-RELEASE-p1 vm.kmem_map_free: 3776512 2.4.5-RELEASE-p1 vm.kmem_map_free: 4608000 Sample of values for 2.4.5-Release-P1 SG-3100 that are running nut vm.kmem_map_free: 4722688 (Nut enabled) vm.kmem_map_free: 1785856 (Nut disabled???) Here is the value of a 2.4.5-Release-p1 SG-2220, same amount of system ram, but vastly different numbers. vm.kmem_map_free: 1999176794 I'm also running arpwatch on the firewalls that have Nut, I just tried disabling arpwatch, and that freed up quite a bit of kmem? So the reason I hit this issue faster may also be because arpwatch uses more kmem.

It's this: https://redmine.pfsense.org/issues/10610 In your case the upgrade never fully finished because the same problem affects quagga so it was sitting there waiting on quagga to complete still. We're still working on that problem.

" Package is configured but not (fully) installed or deprecated " means that lines shown in reds are packages that are ot (fully) installed or deprecated. Your FreeRadius is installed and up to date, so not shown in red. Your issue is purely configuration. I advise you to stop Freeradius in the GUI? Open up the console (SSH access is the one to use now). Option 8. Start freeradius with : radiusd -X and you will see all the details. The ones printed red mean : no good.
