Request for Continued Support of Squid Package Dear Netgate Team, Could we please continue to support the Squid package? The upstream project has already resolved the known security issues, and it appears the main task remaining is updating the package to accommodate the recent PHP changes affecting the status page and address the decode issue. I’m unsure how to address this on my end and would greatly appreciate any guidance. Has anyone else looked into this, or is there a fix currently in progress? Thank you for your time and support. @NRgia said in Suricata on Pfsense: @bmeeks Thank you for what you did for Snort or Suricata. I'm not sure what you want me to do on Redmine, due to is a bug tracker. My question is for Product Management, which I will ask it here to be public: What is the plan for these 2 packages, Suricata and Snort? Thank you Yes, Redmine is for both bug reports and feature requests. Asking for the Suricata binary to be updated to the latest 7.0.11 version from upstream is a legitimate Redmine request. I would suggest simply asking for the binary version update instead of asking about future Netgate strategy (such as the support plans for the packages). Strategy discussions typically don't get very far because they deal with proprietary information or plans that a company may not want to publicly discuss. Redmine is where the Netgate developer team tracks all the code changes they make for pfSense. They will see Redmine reports much quicker than a forum post.

@Leon-Straathof Data retention settings are handled inside of ntopng. Documentation here. Pay attention to the RRD note. Also, if you've turned on some of the slice and dice time series information (is off by default), I'd suggest turning them back off. These balloon the storage requirements and are of little actual use.

@tinfoilmatt said in Failed or invalid Mime Type: [application/SIMH-tape-data|0]: (ASN data is IPinfo, not Maxmind) Thats correct but "GeoLite2-Country" is from Maxmind ... (that confused me) I'm considering simply adding "application/SIMH-tape-data" to the list to test. Thats what i tought too ... I'll try when I have the time for it ... Edit: I can confirm - adding "application/SIMH-tape-data" to the list at line 257 in /usr/local/pkg/pfblockerng/pfblockerng.inc did the trick - no more error! Edit: OK, problem resolved but I would like to know, whats the cause for that error! (SIMH-tape-data sounds like a "blast from the past" ...) Thanks a lot!

@jhg said in NUT fails to start after 2.7.2 -> 2.8.0 upgrade: Interesting. I would have thought the initial reboot, which occurred as part of the upgrade, would have done the trick, but it took a second reboot, just now, to get things working. Glad you have it sorted. There was no difference in the output of usbconfig show_ifdrv at any point -- before or after unplugging/replugging the USB cable, nor after rebooting. ... Question: What would tell me whether or not a driver was loaded? If there were an attached driver, it should have shown up with the show_ifdrv command. If you use the command and look at the other usb devices, I think they will show attached drivers. I don't expect to see a driver attached to the ups, because there is a quirk that tells the OS to ignore that device (and not attach a driver). Look for idVendor and idProduct in the above output. The Vendor ID for your device is 0764, which corresponds to Cyber Power Systems, and the Product ID for your device is 0601, which is registered as "PR1500LCDRT2U UPS" (don't sweat an exact match for the name). You can see the quirk with the following command: [25.07-RC][root@fw]/root: usbconfig dump_device_quirks | grep 0764 VID=0x0764 PID=0x0005 REVLO=0x0000 REVHI=0xffff QUIRK=UQ_HID_IGNORE VID=0x0764 PID=0x0501 REVLO=0x0000 REVHI=0xffff QUIRK=UQ_HID_IGNORE VID=0x0764 PID=0x0601 REVLO=0x0000 REVHI=0xffff QUIRK=UQ_HID_IGNORE [25.07-RC][root@fw]/root: Your device is third on the list. The HID_IGNORE quirk says to ignore the device and not attach a driver. @jhg said in NUT fails to start after 2.7.2 -> 2.8.0 upgrade: You might consider adding this resolution to the release notes for 2.8. LOL... sorry, I don't have input to the release notes (I don't work here). While I wrote and maintain various packages, including NUT, I'm still just a volunteer. Most packages are actually written by volunteers.

Buypass is shutting down their free ACME service: https://community.buypass.com/t/y4y130p Not sure how many (if any) users may be getting their ACME certificates from Buypass, but it is supported in the package, so that number may be non-zero. If you are getting your certificates from Buypass, now is the time to switch to another CA.

I have Wireguard installed on my firewalls. I have about 12 firewalls and most of them connect back to the main firewall which allows the connection to the servers in the main building. I setup a tunnel on each and then added each location as a peer on the Main firewall. This seemed to work except that the gateway. unde3r Monitor IP it only allows one IP address. So the first one works and shows connected fine, but the other 2 are red and do not connect. Everything seems to work until I added a 3rd peer and then the 1st peer showed as if it was offline even though it looked fine and I was able to connect to devices on that network. Am I supposed to add multiple gateways to the Main firewall so that shows as up? Is this the right way for the tunnels between the buildings which need access will work - By adding a tunnel at that location and just adding a peer to the main location?

This is a firewall. Do not install packages or run scripts from other sources on it. That is a giant security nightmare. You have no way to verify that those packages are secure or properly built from trustworthy sources.

The original subject of this thread has been solved. For help with squid, create a new post in the Cache/Proxy board and ask there if you still have questions or problems.

The way that the Quagga OSPF package is written it assumes a basic, working configuration (interface, RID, area) has been deployed via the GUI. I've done a dummy config and then used the raw config fields to do whatever i want after that.

The bundled horrible FreeRADIUS certificate manager (defaulting to MD5) has been removed from the package (starting with 1.7.8). Configuring proper certificates in the pfSense Cert Manager is a required configuration step now. https://redmine.pfsense.org/issues/7170 https://github.com/pfsense/FreeBSD-ports/pull/334 There is no way to migrate the old config if you were not using the pfSense cert manager before, you simply need to do the work yourself. Probably might put some file_notice() and/or install message before 2.4 is released.

The workaround is to use what's used by the package. No such manual messing is supported.

In the mean time, what NMS package would read the RRD data?  Most everything I see monitors via SNMP.  We use PRTG which grabs SNMP information but since the routers already log the info I'd rather just read them for continuity and accuracy.

It's a basic web development operation. some hosts with A records point to digital ocean VPS, some development sites trickle down the local subnet and get port forwarded to boxes in the LAN. Those lan boxes need a local DNS record because the external DO dns record points to the router, not the local IP. www.domain.com > A record > DO dev.domain.com > CNAME > home network plex.home.dev > local A record 10.5.5.2 > home network * * * So it's a combination… I have lots of local stuff, that's not public, and DNS is easier that setting up hosts file on every machine. The problem with dns crashing still happened today with the DNS Resolver. Is there anything I can do to remedy this situation, and still keep my VPN clients active. I would prefer to have DNS and encrypted WAN.

Hi, revengineer Just wanted to say thank you very much for your help. I tried it late last night and its worked perfectly. I tried /dev/cuaU0 just as you said and it worked. I had tried all the ports before but i dont think at the time i had set the panel to lkd so i wonder if that did not help. Im now hoping the get the keyboard options in LCD proc to work. Hopefully it will be just normal keyboard keys that it uses so i can just make get a little micro controller to imitate a usb keyboard and send the right ascii codes. Thanks again Trev

@doktornotor: @docdawning: I'll consider extremely inexpensive alternatives, or other ideas. https://dns.he.net/ This WAS looking so so promising and I've gone down the road of having my stuff mostly setup here, but then I ran in to the deal-breaker: "Zone failed validation test. Wildcarding has been disabled due to abuse." Update: I contacted them and they confirmed they're not going to allow wildcarding. They said they'd manually rig it for me if I only had a few domains. While that would work for me, it's not a viable long-term solution for me. So I guess I'm back to getting pfsense's bind to meet my needs, hosting my own DNS server outside of pfsense or using a paid service.

Thanks for this post ! I download pfSense-CE-2.4.0-BETA-amd64-20170404-1642, and I still have the problem " Proxy Authentication Required " when I try pkg update from the console. If I use "set" in the console I see http_proxy PROXYIP:8012 http_proxy_auth basic:*:user:password http_proxy_auth_pass password http_proxy_auth_user user http_proxy_port 8012 but nothing for https … could it be the problem ?
