2.0 supports interface grouping via lagg. http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/man.cgi?query=lagg&apropos=0&sektion=0&manpath=FreeBSD+7.2-RELEASE&format=html I would suggest grabbing an Alpha snapshot if you want to experiment with it. The underlying lagg features should be available in the 1.2.3 snaps, so you might be able to hack something together using the shell, scripts, or something. I haven't tried that, and it would be unsupported, but it might be an option if the 2.0 snaps seem too volatile for your needs.

@jimp: aeropilot is on the right track. The easiest way to turn a wireless router into a bridge is to turn off DHCP, change its LAN IP to something that doesn't conflict with pfSense, and then only plug into the LAN side, not the Internet/WAN port of the wireless router. Why risk bricking the wireless router by reflashing with a new OS when it's that easy? http://doc.pfsense.org/index.php/Use_an_existing_wireless_router_with_pfSense But my setting is WAN - > ADSL <wan>->(LAN) pfsense(Wireless Nic)  -> WRT54G(v5) -> (Wireless nic) Family member 1)Will it possible to connect pfsense to WRT54G through Wireless nic ?? 2)Shall i use ADSL modem as PPOE(dialup itself) to establish connection ? 3)Traffic will pass direct from ADSL through a LAN cable to Pfsense (Virtual instance) From pfSense to WRT54G is using a Wireless nic to make connect to WRT54G. How to define WAN and LAN IP from pfsense if my above configuration is possible. Is there any component which is redudant or missing in my configuration ?? I also using my pfsense (WinXP) to browse net will it possible ??</wan>

You'll either have to use the developer version that matches the version of pfSense you're using, or take the kernel modules from a matching FreeBSD kernel version.

@TreeTopFlyer: 32 bit OS's can only address a maximum of 4 gigs of memory. This is a common misconception. The way virtual memory works means it's quite logical and feasible to address a far larger memory area than the processor's native address space. You can get up to 64GB of RAM on most Intel CPUs since Pentium Pro. But I agree with the rest, I hardly see the point for pfSense. Pull the RAM and use it somewhere it'll do you go, or just pull it period and save a little bit of power.

You have to learn config.xml syntax.

    1. I think it is important whether remote phone is behind firewall or not. 2. tcpdump would help definitely.

Thank you very much, I understand. I use pfSense only like a content web proxy, firewall is not necessary (there is other firewall unit in the network) I will think about.

May I ask…have you double check on the Gateway IP. I used to have similar issues when I overlooked the gateway IP.

It sounds like the rogers modem needs to be configured slightly different. There be some conflicts with the modem lan and pfs wan setup. I'm gonna blame the modem. if you can log into the modem remember you just want it to talk to the internet for you and thats all. I know the newer rogers modems have a config page you can get to and tweak. I have rogers too just not the wireless. I planing to switch back to DSL b/c it run the same 10mbps/80kbps as cable. (Look into Primus if you do want switch)

The regex and related code I used for parsing the filter log should be in /usr/local/www/includes/log.inc.php, in the function parse_filter_line($line). That code is in version 1.2.3-RC(1, 2, or 3) or on earlier versions can be obtained by installing the Dashboard package.

A VPN simply gives you the ability to link in to a network from another network.  Nothing else changes - if they can do it on the work network then there is a way to do it with VPNs. Your first choice is the nature of the VPN - IPsec, PPTP or OpenVPN.  Which you choose will depend on the operating system(s) the client(s) use.  Your simplest option, in terms of client behaviour, is to use a bridged VPN so that the clients appear to be on the internal network.

You could be running out of states but you would have to go some to use them all up that quick. This "Internet Download Manager tool" wouldn't happen to be torrent related would it?
