There was some discussion of this a while back. http://forum.pfsense.org/index.php/topic,4628.0.html At the moment, you will need another piece of equipment, unless that modem has ethernet.

Hi I'm not offending you but I don't think we can give you simple yes/no answer, because you have to do consult your switch's manual very first and carefully before asking "Is that correct?" type of question here. The manual must have the way creating vlan and trouble shooting method. If I had same switch then I would probably be able to answer your question but not. cheers,

The easiest way to upload a file to a pfSense box from a Windows system is probably through the web GUI interface. From the Diagnostics menu click on Command and then type the path to the file in the appropriate box or click the Browse button.

Hello, Then you might want to look at Untangle if you seriously doing contents filtering by URL/URI. I don't know Squid does help you alot. The last resort I can think of now is that, assuming the users are using Windows, then install some sort of personal firewall thingy on it and configure go/no go locally. Most of firewall progy does that easy. Note: I dont nice speak english , sorry Never mind, me neither speak. There are some non-English forums here so take a look. cheers,

Hello, I've put my first Untangle just behind my pfSense, and guess what! It's way easy and kinda no brainer!!! Read Wiki and just follow the wizard then it's going to take you all thru. It was only 10 minutes. I like Untangle much ;D ;D

@noone85: Why should it blow my NIC? Just check it on a switch and monitor the link lights. It doesn't necessarily blow your NIC but chances are good, you know. @GruensFroeschli: Thanks for the details! Smart as always   ;D

I guess that pfSense's WebGUI is quite simple ;) For complex tasks (like alert) you may have some hooks inside pfSense shell ;) I almost gave up when I did't know how to do regulary remote-backup for pfsense . Finally i wrote some scripts, some daemons and everything is ok now ;) Let's hack pfSense :) NB: pfSense doesn't have anti-virus support.
