    FreeBSD does not have Xen support in FreeBSD 6 just yet.  I am not sure this is going to be possible until 6.2 or 7.0.

    Yes, we are planning on fixing this.  Perhaps if you are in a hurry to get this fixed you can jump in and help us finish it. These things don't write themselves, afterall.

    Thanks for the reply, no they are not connected to the same switch, my setup is as follows: Internet <->Modem <-> WAN NIC <-> LAN NIC <-> SWITCH <-> LAN PC's I changed the setup so that both NIC's are on the same subnet and it appears to be working again although I was dropping packets all the time but after a few restarts it came right (may of been DNS caching or something?), anyways this should do for what I need it for. Now I just have to try to figure out the traffic shaping! Thanks.

    The 64MB image works.  Resizing it to 512 is what did it. :\ I suppose I could go back and re-calculate the sectors I made it grow and try it again.  Really wish there were a way to automate this, or just create a clone install of arbitrary size, a la Carbon Copy Cloner for OSX.

    Currently I have 3 gateway to internet and in the future we are going to have for internet gateway. Each internet gateway using its own firewall, which are: firewall #1: 172.16.4.7 firewall #2: 172.16.4.17 firewall #3: 172.16.4.38 I have configure pfsense 1.0 beta in my machine, equipped with 6 NICs (nv0, ste0, ste1, ste2, ste3, wb0). My LAN probed as nv0 and assign with ip 172.16.4.254. So i need to make another ip alias for that interface and the user shouldn't change gateway setting in their TCP/IP properties. And for my WAN interface, I have 3 blocks of public IP. WAN #1: 203.77.230.xxx/29 (assign on ste0) WAN #2: 202.169.57.xxx/29 (assign on ste1) WAN #3: 202.159.10.xxx/29 (assign on ste2) WAN #4: TBA (assign on ste3) I want to use those IPs for each internet service in my company. For example, I want to use: IP 203.77.230.1, 202.169.57.1 and 202.159.10.1 for my FTP, DNS and HTTP service. IP 203.77.230.2, 202.169.57.2 and 202.159.10.2 for my SMTP and POP3 service. I'm trying with CARP or Other in Virtual IPs and still not able to port scan that IPs. How to that in pfsense?  ??? ??? ??? Btw. in the future, i'm going to use latest NIC (wb0) to use as failover interface.

    @diegoc: The solution is, make the partitions with a freeBSD installation CD and then install the pfsense, skiping the partition wizard. Now is working. ;D Yep, sysinstall works around the problem when you hit the edge case (bug).

    Actually if it stops at "/" it's booting. The embedded versions have all the output at com1 after starting to boot up. check com1 serial console at 9600 baud with a nullmodemcable. See http://doc.pfsense.org/index.php/Chapter_3:_Installing_pfSense#Embedded for some more details on differences between platforms.

    it will always use ipadresses Is there any way to get OLSR to pass regular ethernet (MAC) traffic such as using VPN over OLSR set up in pfSense, or other trick? Another possibility if the above won't work: Can pfSense in Bridge mode also do "spanning tree protocol"?  If so, is this possible solution worthy? Thank you for the helpful replies, [ thread continued/merged here:  http://forum.pfsense.org/index.php?topic=657.0 -Pete

    If you used internet explorer to download the image it may have extracted the contents and ended up with a .tar file?

    Hi, gilf, hi Scott! I solved this problem without additional soapbox (hub). I just mapped LAN interface to ath0, which is "virtually" always on. *** Welcome to pfSense 1.0-BETA1-TESTING-SNAPSHOT-2-5-06-embedded on pfsense ***   OPT2(LANBRIDGE)          ->  sis0    ->      NONE   WAN*                    ->  sis1    ->      172.16.128.11(DHCP)   OPT1(DMZ)                ->  sis2    ->      192.168.2.1   LAN                      ->  ath0    ->      192.168.1.1 …and here is my ifconfig output - sis0: flags=8943 <up,broadcast,running,promisc,simplex,multicast>mtu 1500         options=8 <vlan_mtu>inet6 fe80::200:24ff:fec5:6ebc%sis0 prefixlen 64 scopeid 0x1         ether 00:00:24:c5:6e:bc         media: Ethernet autoselect (none)         status: no carrier sis1: flags=8843 <up,broadcast,running,simplex,multicast>mtu 1500         options=8 <vlan_mtu>inet6 fe80::200:24ff:fec5:6ebd%sis1 prefixlen 64 scopeid 0x2         inet 172.16.128.11 netmask 0xffff0000 broadcast 172.16.255.255         ether 00:00:24:c5:6e:bd         media: Ethernet autoselect (100baseTX <full-duplex>)         status: active sis2: flags=8843 <up,broadcast,running,simplex,multicast>mtu 1500         options=8 <vlan_mtu>inet 192.168.2.1 netmask 0xffffff00 broadcast 192.168.2.255         inet6 fe80::200:24ff:fec5:6ebe%sis2 prefixlen 64 scopeid 0x3         ether 00:00:24:c5:6e:be         media: Ethernet autoselect (none)         status: no carrier ath0: flags=8943 <up,broadcast,running,promisc,simplex,multicast>mtu 1500         inet6 fe80::20b:6bff:fe37:579d%ath0 prefixlen 64 scopeid 0x4         inet 192.168.1.1 netmask 0xffffff00 broadcast 192.168.1.255         ether 00:0b:6b:37:57:9d         media: IEEE 802.11 Wireless Ethernet autoselect mode 11g <hostap>status: associated         ssid mms channel 1 bssid 00:0b:6b:37:57:9d         authmode WPA privacy MIXED deftxkey 2 AES-CCM 2:128-bit         AES-CCM 3:128-bit txpowmax 40 protmode OFF burst dtimperiod 1         bintval 100 pfsync0: flags=41 <up,running>mtu 2020         pfsync: syncdev: lo0 maxupd: 128 pflog0: flags=100 <promisc>mtu 33208 lo0: flags=8049 <up,loopback,running,multicast>mtu 16384         inet 127.0.0.1 netmask 0xff000000         inet6 ::1 prefixlen 128         inet6 fe80::1%lo0 prefixlen 64 scopeid 0x7 bridge0: flags=8043 <up,broadcast,running,multicast>mtu 1500         ether ac:de:48:f9:56:39         priority 32768 hellotime 2 fwddelay 15 maxage 20         member: sis0 flags=3 <learning,discover>member: ath0 flags=3 <learning,discover></learning,discover></learning,discover></up,broadcast,running,multicast></up,loopback,running,multicast></promisc></up,running></hostap></up,broadcast,running,promisc,simplex,multicast></vlan_mtu></up,broadcast,running,simplex,multicast></full-duplex></vlan_mtu></up,broadcast,running,simplex,multicast></vlan_mtu></up,broadcast,running,promisc,simplex,multicast> I think - problem still exists, with two ethernet interfaces and without wireless i need hub again ;( Thanks, Arnis.

    Nice, you seem to use it to the max  ;D However the additional hardware does need additional power. Make sure the PSU is not at it's limit. While performing a reset it might need a power peak from the PSU to reinitialise everything.
