There were some notes on it in another post- when the pkg version was behind you could do a 'pkg lock pkg' to prevent the pkg manager from getting updated and breaking everything.

Why just not let memtest run over night, just to be sure? http://www.memtest86.com/ VLAN connection may be placed in bad bit memory address and this causes system to lock up immediately or soon after. Many others have VLAN configured without any issue.

OK, so far so good. I've set up a 192.168.3.0/24 LAN … I added a static address for the wireless access point of 192.168.3.254, which is showing in the DHCP leases to the correct device but it is showing offline the Internet works via the AP but I cannot browse to the AP ... is the firewall blocking it? P.S. embarrassing finger trouble ... I put the wrong MAC address for the AP.  Now I can't release the IP it has!  I tried editing the dhcpd.leases and dhcpd.leases~ but that didn't work so I'm getting by with assigning it directly on the AP.

I alway have trouble upgrading my pfsense box since 2.3. WebUI report failed upgrade or WebUI cannot check update. After search forum, I have a success procedure to upgrade my pfsense 2.3 to 2.3.2 1. enabe ssh for pfsense box 2. ssh login to pfsense box as root 3. choose 'upgrade from console' option, or some thing like that, sorry I didnot keep a screen capture 4. let upgrade process finish and reboot pfsense box automatically 5. got a upgraded pfsense box Hope this procedure helps.

Give details of the hardware you are using, and some console output right up to the point where it is delayed or hangs.

seems to be working now. i changed routers to my netgear. i have had issues with this cisco router in the past but it had been fine for awhile now. not sure if it was a setting i missed somewhere or what but i disabled all routing functions in the netgear and connected it an everything seems to be working fine now.

My 2.3.1_5 on Hyper-V could not check for updates. I did the upgrade from ssh with pfSense-upgrade -d and it upgaded with no issues, and took less than 5 minutes to do. pfSense can check for updates now too. [image: geSFDkT.png]

As a precaution before upgrade I disabled all packages that could block access to internet, pfBlockerNG AND DNSBL, Suricata, Snort etc.

SOLVED! My Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) forced me to run the "pfSense-upgrade -d" command about 10+ times and then out of the blue the update started to download, no more "Not Found" errors…. weird eh? Maybe a reverse proxy wasn't updated with the latest files? network error? who knows...

as far as i know there aren't any of anything between me and the internet, unless my isp is doing something funky… i'm plugged directly into the fibre node termination point in my house. ubuntu and raspbian have no issues running apt-get updates. got this twice trying to install open-vm-tools:- 678460032:error:1408F119:SSL routines:SSL3_GET_RECORD:decryption failed or bad record mac:/builder/pfsense-232/tmp/FreeBSD-src/secure/lib/libssl/../../../crypto/openssl/ssl/s3_pkt.c:518: and if i try an manual upgrade in the console i get this:- [2.3.2-RELEASE][root@pfSense.localdomain]/root: pfSense-upgrade -d Updating repositories metadata… Updating pfSense-core repository catalogue... pfSense-core repository is up-to-date. Here's what I did that seemed to have gotten me back to the working original repos for my SG-4860: Changed my pfSense-repo.conf per tl1964's post above from the firmware.netgate.com url to the pkg.pfsense.org url. Ran the updater again from SSH with success in getting to 2.3.2 Changed the pfSense-repo.conf back to the original url of firmware.netgate.com (using http, not https) and removed the following lines from the conf file: signature_type: "fingerprints",   fingerprints: "/usr/local/share/pfSense/keys/pkg" Ran the updater from SSH again Modified the conf file, putting it back to the firmware.netgate.com url (using https, instead of http) Ran the updater from SSH again Modified the conf file one last time, adding back the signature and fingerprints lines Seems to be good now.  No more "No trusted public keys found" messages and no "Unable to retrieve package information" messages. The AWS and IOS VPN packages show up in package manager. Not sure if this is what you are looking for, but hopefully it may help.

Hi, pppfsense I had the same - took aeons, but updated successfully. If you have huge fanbase, huge trafficsurge, so need much bandwith, what do you do: You buy more. So, where does the money come from? think… And also this: Every single update i did on my pf-boxes allways (yes, i go with the 100% here, a very seldom but honored, valued 100%) went through, even remote, since i use pf, on first days and also later (second and thirday max). Don't know what happend with yours, but from my end, it looks good here - you might want to consider your statement about robustness and testing... And yes, with zyxel, sonicwall fortigate cisco .. name em...and so on, it can happen (too) now and then - even got briked several times, and payed for several times (resp. customers paid for). That why i ended up here.
