Hmm, do you have anything smaller? Anything that's USB2? When you see that EHCI time out error you should do a full power cycle before testing anything else.

@stephenw10 Yup. I figure out the problem once I got into the console. When I tried to access the tools menu, I received a fatal error telling me that there was not enough room to create a lock file. Deleted one of the BE files and I was off to the races.

Looks like the output you see when the primary console is set to the other one: https://docs.netgate.com/pfsense/en/latest/troubleshooting/boot-issues.html#booting-with-an-alternate-console

For reference in the Beta7 installer you can enable the CE repos for install even if your instance is eligible for Plus.

@stephenw10 Thank you! I struggled to reassign the LAN interface. I was told that I could not set it to a 192.168.2.1/24 subdomain. I thought I had taken notes of that episode, but I can't seem to find them. It would not surprise me if I was mistyping something (I'm not dyslexic, but I sure seem to be when it comes to correctly choosing "LAN" or "WAN"). However, after re-reading the link you provided I was able to set the LAN interface to None, which allowed installation to proceed. Thank you for your assistance! I have a new struggle getting my legacy settings installed, but I want to wrestle with that a bit more before returning here.

To close the loop on this. I saw in the Netgate hardware discussions where an M.2 2242 SSD with B+M keys can work in the 2100. https://forum.netgate.com/topic/184700/m-2-sata-ssd-128gb?_=1722035654829

@stephenw10 , I have removed few more and now have 1.8G available. I think it should be fine now. Thanks again for your guidance.

I assume if you just install and boot from an SSD it does boot OK? Does that system claim to support NVMe drives? I don't see it in the specs. You should, technically, be able to boot a bootloader from SSD and then boot from NVMe if it can see that. That combination is not something I've tried though.

Yeah I would open a ticket about that. It should recognise the 7100 and setup the switch and VLANs etc so you can connect out on the default interfaces. If that's not happening then it isn't recognising the hardware for some reason. That might mean the data passed by the bios is incorrect. Also important to note is that coming from a pfSense version that old probably means it has an old Coreboot version and that will need to be updated. That must be done in an older pfSense version, 23.05.1 or earlier. Steve

Not for that hubspot form. I had to add no-script exceptions but it worked fine after that.

@stephenw10 said in upgrade from 2.7.0 to 2.7.2 failed: Run pkg-static -d update, see what error is shown. The most common issue coming from 2.7.0 though is a cert issue. If it shows that try running certctl rehash and retesting. I just had this error on a server that wouldn't update and "certctl rehash" fixed it. Thank you for taking the time to post fixes, as it helps people years later!

It's because it's IGMP. There is a behaviour change there after a fix in pf: https://redmine.pfsense.org/issues/15400. Steve

Nope this is exactly the sort of edge case report that we want to see. You may well have found a bug if it was repeatable.
