I've been using a system based on an Atom 2550 (essentially a 2500 with hyperthreading) for about 2 years with no problems. Its currently handling 40Mbit/5Mbit DSL circuit. It also runs OpenVPN (for remote access) and ntopng. Carlos

I would want something more than the E3845 for what you are asking there. It might do it. It's not a test that is often done: What additional throughput is possible when you are already doing 80Mbps OpenVPN…. and Snort.  ;) I can't really recommend anything but our own hardware. That literally pays for me to be here.  :) Steve

You can just add it and reboot. The interfaces will use a different driver (igb) so will be named differently. The boot will stop at the assign interfaces screen at the console because the re interfaces will no longer present. As long as you're ready for that you can just re-assign your interfaces to the new NIC names and continue. Steve

Yeah, that would work great here. You do, currently, have to install pfSense yourself but it's not hard. https://store.netgate.com/MBT-2220-system.aspx Steve

@Derelict: I also saw a quirk in a DGS-1210-10P. Accessing the web gui same-subnet fails to load properly/consistently. Accessing it from another subnet so the traffic is out the management default gateway works fine. Weird. I experienced somewhat the same, configuring an 1100-08 yesterday. After moving the mgmt vlan to the "final" vlan , i got a "White screen" , even after several refreshes etc. (Using firefox) No hangs or errors , so the 1100-08 was answering on http. I didn't want to shutdown FF , so just opened a Chromium (Linux Chrome) , and entered the samme ip that gave white screen in FF. Everything was ok in Chromium. After (saving the new mgmt vlan change to flashcfg) , and a a reload of the 1100-08 … FF was ok too  ??? /Bingo

I have the very same motherboard.  The NIC I use is a dual NIC PCIe 1x card.  I've had it for nearly 9 months, and so far no problems. http://a.co/cHYexWy There were several more candidates in the also viewed section. http://a.co/ieFVj4B http://a.co/a2wgxB4 http://a.co/bbATngV

My build has two onboard intel ethernet jacks on the MoBo.  Would this be a good two port card to add for a total of four ports? Intel Ethernet Server Adapter I350-T2V2 Thanks again for all the help on getting me going…

IBM, like HP (a.k.a. Compaq) are weird boxes. Am guessing reason why they can be cheap. Believe or not, pFsense install fine on generic PC boxes, but give them a super-duper big brand name server gear… hope ur patience and tenacious. Power-wise like others say, you would be running a Ferrari on a 2-lane island.

The b-pi image has been available for FreeBSD since late 2016, IIRC. For pfSense, we already have SG-1000, which is armv6, like b-pi. We’ve announced that we’re doing espresso.bin, which is arm64, and therefore much faster than banana-pi. https://espressobin.net/forums/topic/pfsense/page/2/
