@pulsartiger The database name is vnstat.db and its location is under /var/db/vnstat. With "Backup Files/Dir" we are able to do backup or also with a cron.

@Gertjan Whenever it is a full hour I see stuff like this in my logs: https://otx.alienvault.com/indicator/ip/94.16.122.152 It seems to be time servers but it's a TOR node and some private person hosting traefik? I feel like this should not show up? It originates from my ASUS access point. But it is also related to when the emerging threats get updated. All happens at the full hour mark. I don't know why some random private persons ntp server gets queried.

@jhg said in NUT fails to start after 2.7.2 -> 2.8.0 upgrade: Interesting. I would have thought the initial reboot, which occurred as part of the upgrade, would have done the trick, but it took a second reboot, just now, to get things working. Glad you have it sorted. There was no difference in the output of usbconfig show_ifdrv at any point -- before or after unplugging/replugging the USB cable, nor after rebooting. ... Question: What would tell me whether or not a driver was loaded? If there were an attached driver, it should have shown up with the show_ifdrv command. If you use the command and look at the other usb devices, I think they will show attached drivers. I don't expect to see a driver attached to the ups, because there is a quirk that tells the OS to ignore that device (and not attach a driver). Look for idVendor and idProduct in the above output. The Vendor ID for your device is 0764, which corresponds to Cyber Power Systems, and the Product ID for your device is 0601, which is registered as "PR1500LCDRT2U UPS" (don't sweat an exact match for the name). You can see the quirk with the following command: [25.07-RC][root@fw]/root: usbconfig dump_device_quirks | grep 0764 VID=0x0764 PID=0x0005 REVLO=0x0000 REVHI=0xffff QUIRK=UQ_HID_IGNORE VID=0x0764 PID=0x0501 REVLO=0x0000 REVHI=0xffff QUIRK=UQ_HID_IGNORE VID=0x0764 PID=0x0601 REVLO=0x0000 REVHI=0xffff QUIRK=UQ_HID_IGNORE [25.07-RC][root@fw]/root: Your device is third on the list. The HID_IGNORE quirk says to ignore the device and not attach a driver. @jhg said in NUT fails to start after 2.7.2 -> 2.8.0 upgrade: You might consider adding this resolution to the release notes for 2.8. LOL... sorry, I don't have input to the release notes (I don't work here). While I wrote and maintain various packages, including NUT, I'm still just a volunteer. Most packages are actually written by volunteers.

@EChondo What's your pfSense version ? The instructions are shown here : [image: 1753262126227-1acdc586-cb29-4148-9e36-81ade4e5e60c-image.png] A restart of a service will start by re creating their config files. If a certificate changed, it will get included. When the process starts, it will use the new certificate. @EChondo said in Issue with ACME Certificates Refresh & Restarting HAProxy: I haven't been able to confirm if the above works(mine just renewed, don't feel like doing it again just to test), so we'll see in 60 days I guess. No need to wait x days. You can re test / renew right away, as you are 'allowed' to renew a couple (5 max ?) of times per week.

This still seems to be an issue, and makes the Tailscale client unreliable. I have 4 nodes down now with expiry disabled, after some unknown time, and then a router reboot they can no longer authenticate. Error executing command (/usr/local/bin/tailscale status) # Health check: # - not logged in, last login error=invalid key: API key does not exist unexpected state: NoState From the CLI I can run tailscale login, and it re-authenticates the same node, I can tailscale down + up and it connects fine, status on the webpage looks good, but if I reboot or restart the Tailscale service in the webpage it can no longer connect again with the same error needing to login again. The only way to make it work reliably is to clear the config, delete the node and reconnect as a new node. Pfsense 2.7.2, Tailscale package 0.1.4

This is still an issue as of 2.8.0 / 25.07, and it drives me crazy. Gateway failure works as expected, the wireguard tunnels will fail over to the backup gateway and continue on as normal, but will never recover once the failed gateway comes back online. While a reboot will (usually) fix it, I usually just go into my routing settings and mark the secondary gateway as down, forcing it to revert back to the primary... the users tend to dislike it when I reboot the firewall in the middle of the day

@nogbadthebad Correct. Supermicro IPMI. Most of my searches found people having issues getting authentication working with Supermicro. My issue is that all other devices that use RADIUS for authentication are all working (UPS’s, Supermicro IPMI, TrippLite PDU). It’s just the pfSense itself.

Not sure if you figured it out already since this post is a few days old, but I think you need to do two things: Remove your "Default Backend" entry (if you have a default entry, everything will be sent to that backend, regardless of the ACL you defined above) For the "Use Backend" action, you wanna populate the "Condition Acl Name" field or else the action wont match. So in your case, set the "condition acl name" to "LookingGlass" (the name you gave your "Host Matches:" ACL) You now should get a 503 error for all other requests until you define another acl that matches the host name and send that to the same (or a different) backend via another "Use Backend" action entry. Hope this helps. Still a beginner with ha proxy so not sure if this is the way to go, but for me in a similar situation that was what I had to do.

@jonathanlee Thank you for the insight and pointing out my miss configuration. I didn’t see it till you said something. Where I had loop back 127.0.0.1 I should’ve had IOTWiFi addresses. I used the net gate recipes for redirecting DNS and applied it to NTP. Have a good weekend

The security issues here would be somewhat less of a problem if OpenVPN didn't store the client certificate's private key in plain text in the config file A possible modification to the OP's suggestion based on some responses here: an option to email the client config file as an encrypted, passworded zip file. After that it is on the VPN admin to ensure that the encrypted zip file's password is communicated by an alternative communications method.

@toyinal said in Captive Portal takes 1 hr to start: Unfortunately reinstalling will be the last resort since it’s the production system Re installing ? You're using pfSense - not some "Windows 10" PC ;) All settings are in one file, the file you backup every day (do you ?). If the system fails - as hardware does all the time, you can get back online in minutes. Because : you import one file, and all is back to normal. This makes settings testing with default settings so easy. It also validates your backup and urgency plan. @toyinal said in Captive Portal takes 1 hr to start: but less number of Ethernet ports What happens when you disable all non needed ports ? Without having any details, so I just presume, it's a hardware issue. I know it can boot normally, as you and I use the same software. The difference is : hardware drivers for the NIC's involved and settings.

@jc1976 said in SSL_ERROR_INTERNAL_ERROR_ALERT: I saw some mention changing "Global Logging/Blocking Mode" from dnsbl webserver/vip to either no logging or no global mode, but none of that worked. Chose one of the "Null Block" option, I advise the (logging) one so you have the stats. "DNSBL server" is nice on paper, but only works (well) for non https requests, that is : old fashioned http requests. The thing is : these don't exist any more. Example : You have blacklisted "www.verisign.com" and you try to visit it. Your browser connects to the IP it got back from pfSense, and the web server at that IP has to send a certificate that says "Hi, I'm the certificate verisign.com". But that didn't happen. The IP your browser obtained was : [image: 1641378309799-939c8a03-dc36-488b-9fef-4c812acc2219-image.png] and this we server send a auto signed, non trusted cert that says : "(I'm not verisign)". Your browser then 'should) tells you : something went terribly wrong. And it will NOT ( of course not) show you the page. Browser love to show messages like SSL_ERROR_INTERNAL_ERROR_ALERT because something (some one) tries to break SSL. That's bad. You should disregard the usage of the DNSBL web server proposed by pfBlockerNG, as it was a good idea in the past, it's unusable these days.

@gertjan On newer Android versions it is required to have a valid SSL Cert for the Radius service, therefore we use the LE Cert. Yes, if I manually remove the "DST Root CA X3" from the Freeradius server cert, everything works.
