Ìam trying to use dynamic templates ([server-template] (https://www.haproxy.com/blog/dns-service-discovery-haproxy)) but pfSense names the servers unexpectedly [image: 1754569386169-3d2b5842-fb36-4e70-b305-a99d0ca4b9f1-image.png] I did expect these to be generated at runtime after an actual request (providing a hostname that is internally resolved to an internal IP) "Internet" says pfsense does not support this in their HA package - but the haproxy.cfg looks alright - so iam not sure where the problem lies. so to get server-template i need to set 0.0.0.0 in pfSense GUI) as IP, but HA configuration guides says i need to set _domain.topdomain as address for the template to work dynamically

@NRgia said in Suricata on Pfsense: @bmeeks Hello Bill, as others have stated, the code did not reach the final version of pfSense 25.07. Can you check with the developers? Thank you Sorry, but I am no longer able to actively maintain the IDS/IPS packages. You will need to directly address this with the Netgate team through the pfSense Redmine bug/feature reporting system here: https://redmine.pfsense.org/projects/pfsense.

@Gertjan Whenever it is a full hour I see stuff like this in my logs: https://otx.alienvault.com/indicator/ip/94.16.122.152 It seems to be time servers but it's a TOR node and some private person hosting traefik? I feel like this should not show up? It originates from my ASUS access point. But it is also related to when the emerging threats get updated. All happens at the full hour mark. I don't know why some random private persons ntp server gets queried.

@jhg said in NUT fails to start after 2.7.2 -> 2.8.0 upgrade: Interesting. I would have thought the initial reboot, which occurred as part of the upgrade, would have done the trick, but it took a second reboot, just now, to get things working. Glad you have it sorted. There was no difference in the output of usbconfig show_ifdrv at any point -- before or after unplugging/replugging the USB cable, nor after rebooting. ... Question: What would tell me whether or not a driver was loaded? If there were an attached driver, it should have shown up with the show_ifdrv command. If you use the command and look at the other usb devices, I think they will show attached drivers. I don't expect to see a driver attached to the ups, because there is a quirk that tells the OS to ignore that device (and not attach a driver). Look for idVendor and idProduct in the above output. The Vendor ID for your device is 0764, which corresponds to Cyber Power Systems, and the Product ID for your device is 0601, which is registered as "PR1500LCDRT2U UPS" (don't sweat an exact match for the name). You can see the quirk with the following command: [25.07-RC][root@fw]/root: usbconfig dump_device_quirks | grep 0764 VID=0x0764 PID=0x0005 REVLO=0x0000 REVHI=0xffff QUIRK=UQ_HID_IGNORE VID=0x0764 PID=0x0501 REVLO=0x0000 REVHI=0xffff QUIRK=UQ_HID_IGNORE VID=0x0764 PID=0x0601 REVLO=0x0000 REVHI=0xffff QUIRK=UQ_HID_IGNORE [25.07-RC][root@fw]/root: Your device is third on the list. The HID_IGNORE quirk says to ignore the device and not attach a driver. @jhg said in NUT fails to start after 2.7.2 -> 2.8.0 upgrade: You might consider adding this resolution to the release notes for 2.8. LOL... sorry, I don't have input to the release notes (I don't work here). While I wrote and maintain various packages, including NUT, I'm still just a volunteer. Most packages are actually written by volunteers.

@EChondo What's your pfSense version ? The instructions are shown here : [image: 1753262126227-1acdc586-cb29-4148-9e36-81ade4e5e60c-image.png] A restart of a service will start by re creating their config files. If a certificate changed, it will get included. When the process starts, it will use the new certificate. @EChondo said in Issue with ACME Certificates Refresh & Restarting HAProxy: I haven't been able to confirm if the above works(mine just renewed, don't feel like doing it again just to test), so we'll see in 60 days I guess. No need to wait x days. You can re test / renew right away, as you are 'allowed' to renew a couple (5 max ?) of times per week.

This is still an issue as of 2.8.0 / 25.07, and it drives me crazy. Gateway failure works as expected, the wireguard tunnels will fail over to the backup gateway and continue on as normal, but will never recover once the failed gateway comes back online. While a reboot will (usually) fix it, I usually just go into my routing settings and mark the secondary gateway as down, forcing it to revert back to the primary... the users tend to dislike it when I reboot the firewall in the middle of the day

What are you trying to accomplish exactly.. Why do you think you should bridge all your networks together? Why are you trying to use a tap vpn connection? The only point to such a setup would before allowing for L2 discovery.. Ie broadcast and multicast? Why would you want/need that? Do you want to control traffic between your wireless network and your lan?

I used these commands verbatim and after reboot the service started up and the metrics were exposed as expected. Thank you

@steveits I have been encountering the same issue and finally digested this setting in /usr/local/etc/apcupsd/apcupsd.conf: # The ONBATTERYDELAY is the time in seconds from when a power failure # is detected until we react to it with an onbattery event. # # This means that, apccontrol will be called with the powerout argument # immediately when a power failure is detected. However, the # onbattery argument is passed to apccontrol only after the # ONBATTERYDELAY time. If you don't want to be annoyed by short # powerfailures, make sure that apccontrol powerout does nothing # i.e. comment out the wall. ONBATTERYDELAY 6 The onbattery condition is immediately logged to the apcupsd event log and syslog, but the email notification is withheld until the ONBATTERYDELAY has transpired to eliminate unnecessary notifications for brief transients. I see that your outages were only on second long, so they would not have satisfied the default 6-second condition. If you want to be notified of brief outages, you might create a powerout script in /usr/local/etc/apcupsd/ similar to the onbattery script. Galen

@whitetiger-it You may want to look at MRTG. I'm sure someone has adapted it for UPSs (either APCUPSD or NUT). MRTG I have a FreeBSD NAS (Xigmanas) which has UPS monitoring that looks a lot like MRTG. Maybe you could spin up a minimal VM with it and monitor that way? The NAS uses NUT to monitor pfSense as slave, which in turn uses APCUPSD to monitor the USB-connected APC on the host... Simple! :/ [image: 1620669889413-a3a9005e-b53a-4829-aaa5-3e13bbf5de0b-image.png]

@skogs yes correct. But I am not doing the 2.6 devel release. The other day a new snapshot nuked my 2.6 devel lab install. It is absurd that this is still not fixed. Luckily pfsense is free ad I am glad I don’t have the plus appliances. Then again a similar fix was released within days for pfsense Plus for this same multi wan bug….makes you wonder My advice stay on 2.4.5 -p1 as long as you can. I am doing the same. I am using pfblockerng there but only ip blocking. I moved to dedicated AdGuard Home server on a raspberry pi for dnsbl blocking.
