Don't think it's related but try a 1.2beta1 please from the official mirrors.

Loaded the old config, removed all the NAT rules, re-created them like I just did now… still doesn't work. So wierd. I'm now restoring pieces of my original configuration onto the working config.

Update: Alright, so I've restored the bits of the configuration I didn't want to have to re-enter (aliases, rules etc.) and now things are working fine again. I can only assume that something was messed with my configuration file. I've compared both configurations, and while I can't see any gaping issues, there are various discrepancies, mostly in the formatting of the XML. I wonder if my configuration became corrupt, or if there are some small changes between 1.1 and 1.2 that I got caught up on.

Yep very true I have that problem a lot. Would be useful to switch on for auto roll back on big firewall changes etc. But this was more of a suggestion rather than I really wanted it. Just wondered how meny people thought it would be useful.

Check that I booted the PF box up this morning and all is working (if you're an administrator you can see this post is being made through that box's ip vs my others through my other ip)…  ??? It's confusing the crap out of me... but I'll keep going on the config and do a few more re-boots and see if it continues to work.. !

Please reinstall using the latest 1.2beta1. Countless bugs have been fixed.

You have been booting from a floppydrive, not from the livecd. Change your bios settings to boot from the cdrom.

well my users are moaning a lot lately that its slower
and my one interface firewall gateway rules are not working at all???

though i will try upgrade again and see what happens

very sorry guy because this isn't mission critical I tend not to bother giving any roll back options. After you have to plan this stuff at work I can't be bothered at home. I do mess around a lot so it may of just been me.  When I went into the IPSEC setup the pass phrase was there but didn't work till I retyped it and resaved it.

Hopfully it will only be me to report it. Thanks for your help etc.

You can interrupt the bootprocess to disable dma-modes before it starts loading the kernel (see http://wiki.pfsense.com/wikka.php?wakka=BootOptions for how to do so). Then once installed simply edit the bootloader config from diagnostics>edit file, save and reboot.
