    Looked a bit more and stephen was right the haswell core i3s tend to support AES so that is a good thing.

    Those new atoms do look lovely and very low power also http://www.anandtech.com/show/7453/ecs-reveals-bay-traild-miniitx-line

    Only thing is I see no pci express slots,  vital to have one.  I am unsure if anyone has attempted a mini express network card and its worked with pfsense…. but if the performance of these baytrails are good and mini express network cards worked then they would make awesome pfsense boxes.

    I have the same problem with error 22 on pfsense 2.01
    Can anyone help? It's not possible for me to go to Version 2.1

    I have copied re_if.ko to /boot/kernel and have edited the loader.conf.local and the loader.conf.
    No success.

    Ah, thanks for the correction. I think I must have confused that with some Intel mobo specs. Can't remember that either though.  ::)
    Anyway it won't effect compatibility with the driver.

    I sorted it out by both reconnecting the modem to the port cuaU0.0 and adding an antenna to the dongle in order to have a better gain (was <45% now is >55%).
    Now the loadbalancing is working fine.

    For a small fanless (quiet) and reasonably powerful pfSense box, I'd go with a Habey BIS-6634 Intel Atom N2800 Fanless 4 Gigabit Ethernet with Bypass Segment Server/Security/Network Appliance.

    Yes, that's a known bug and has been fixed for future snapshots. It's a problem with bridging on some NICs/drivers.  A fix is available here: http://forum.pfsense.org/index.php/topic,66908.msg367991.html#msg367991

    I found the issue and it was unrelated to PfSense. The access point that he is using has AP isolation turned on by default. In order to get things working I had to enable a setting called "Allow Intra-AP communication" and all is well now. Thanks for everyone's help.

    $60 is a good price for that part, I think I paid $180 on Newegg.com for the Intel part. Can't beat Intel Nics!

    thx alu

    That is good news to hear about the Asrock mobos,I think as you suggested though best to find a 4 nic NC364T version.  I see plenty on ebay while more expensive I think as you suggested at least its better.

    Yeah the issue is with just about every motherboard I see they all ship with realtek nics !  its like a disease ;)

    I think I will go ahead with this build this week.  I need to get a reliable and stable router system in place one geared for OpenVPN performance.  This should hopefully do the trick !

    @rippz:

    I think with this beast I can handle 4x32mbit multi wan (full speed when downloading with multiple connections).

    Without breaking a sweat I would think.  ;)

    Yeah, I saw the timer stuff and have changed that. This is all coming up rather nicely…transparent Squid proxy, DHCP configured, etc. Just need to figure out the VPN connection to work (didn't realise when I started all this that pfSense doesn't do L2TP/IPSec, which is a litle disappointing) and sort out some interface bridging and we should be all set...impressed with pfSense now, seems much nicer to use than OpenWRT, helped along by better hardware (the WRT54G while iconic, isn't particularly well-specced).

    @mcmxvi:

    So in essence, the problem is that the heatpipes are too short? Or barely long enough to fit just about half the cpu socket? If so, I guess I'll take my chances. Can't imagine the G1630 roasting itself?! Adding a silent 80mm exhaust fan will probably shave some 8-10 degrees off as well, no?

    Too short and if I remember correctly the socket is actually a bit in front of one of the pipe brackets.

    I actually own both, let me see if I can dig up an old picture.
