    @andrew_cb Thank you for the answer In the end it was a problem that any new backend i added just did not register, i confirm it by taking an existing one and overriding it and it worked so i want the nuclear option and just installed the entire pfsense because installing the haproxy did not help.

    @NRgia said in Suricata on Pfsense: @bmeeks Thank you for what you did for Snort or Suricata. I'm not sure what you want me to do on Redmine, due to is a bug tracker. My question is for Product Management, which I will ask it here to be public: What is the plan for these 2 packages, Suricata and Snort? Thank you Yes, Redmine is for both bug reports and feature requests. Asking for the Suricata binary to be updated to the latest 7.0.11 version from upstream is a legitimate Redmine request. I would suggest simply asking for the binary version update instead of asking about future Netgate strategy (such as the support plans for the packages). Strategy discussions typically don't get very far because they deal with proprietary information or plans that a company may not want to publicly discuss. Redmine is where the Netgate developer team tracks all the code changes they make for pfSense. They will see Redmine reports much quicker than a forum post.

    @Leon-Straathof Data retention settings are handled inside of ntopng. Documentation here. Pay attention to the RRD note. Also, if you've turned on some of the slice and dice time series information (is off by default), I'd suggest turning them back off. These balloon the storage requirements and are of little actual use.

That's probably good thing ? ( ! ). Up to you to discover why your NAS should initiate connections to these countries. A NAS can go outside for maintenance purposes, for example to look for updates of it's system. These could be located anywhere of course. The GeoIP IP created a rule for you. How and where do you use that this rule ?

    @jhg said in NUT fails to start after 2.7.2 -> 2.8.0 upgrade: Interesting. I would have thought the initial reboot, which occurred as part of the upgrade, would have done the trick, but it took a second reboot, just now, to get things working. Glad you have it sorted. There was no difference in the output of usbconfig show_ifdrv at any point -- before or after unplugging/replugging the USB cable, nor after rebooting. ... Question: What would tell me whether or not a driver was loaded? If there were an attached driver, it should have shown up with the show_ifdrv command. If you use the command and look at the other usb devices, I think they will show attached drivers. I don't expect to see a driver attached to the ups, because there is a quirk that tells the OS to ignore that device (and not attach a driver). Look for idVendor and idProduct in the above output. The Vendor ID for your device is 0764, which corresponds to Cyber Power Systems, and the Product ID for your device is 0601, which is registered as "PR1500LCDRT2U UPS" (don't sweat an exact match for the name). You can see the quirk with the following command: [25.07-RC][root@fw]/root: usbconfig dump_device_quirks | grep 0764 VID=0x0764 PID=0x0005 REVLO=0x0000 REVHI=0xffff QUIRK=UQ_HID_IGNORE VID=0x0764 PID=0x0501 REVLO=0x0000 REVHI=0xffff QUIRK=UQ_HID_IGNORE VID=0x0764 PID=0x0601 REVLO=0x0000 REVHI=0xffff QUIRK=UQ_HID_IGNORE [25.07-RC][root@fw]/root: Your device is third on the list. The HID_IGNORE quirk says to ignore the device and not attach a driver. @jhg said in NUT fails to start after 2.7.2 -> 2.8.0 upgrade: You might consider adding this resolution to the release notes for 2.8. LOL... sorry, I don't have input to the release notes (I don't work here). While I wrote and maintain various packages, including NUT, I'm still just a volunteer. Most packages are actually written by volunteers.

    @EChondo What's your pfSense version ? The instructions are shown here : [image: 1753262126227-1acdc586-cb29-4148-9e36-81ade4e5e60c-image.png] A restart of a service will start by re creating their config files. If a certificate changed, it will get included. When the process starts, it will use the new certificate. @EChondo said in Issue with ACME Certificates Refresh & Restarting HAProxy: I haven't been able to confirm if the above works(mine just renewed, don't feel like doing it again just to test), so we'll see in 60 days I guess. No need to wait x days. You can re test / renew right away, as you are 'allowed' to renew a couple (5 max ?) of times per week.

    Since my upgrade to 25.07-RELEASE (amd64) built on Tue Jul 22 22:24:00 CEST 2025 FreeBSD 15.0-CURRENT, on one end of my most important tunnel, the tunnel still works fine, but the pfSense GUI keeps reporting the service as stopped. I had to remove its monitoring from the Service Watchdog which was also trying to start it, without success. Yet the trafic flows correctly. I'm holding off upgrading my other boxes. Is there something I could do to help diagnose?

    base on your first image, Logging is already check. So how come it doesn't log? I think the devs put the the description "For testing" is because they don't want to occupy your hd with all the logs especially if it is not rotated.

    Sorry, it should be stated: But I have problems with loadbalancing and the redirect rule. But now it is all messed up. I was trying to fix the loadbalance problem and the redirect rule, and now my sg is not working if put into transparent mode. Edit: After posting the above reply, all came back to "normal". Redirect (int error page) is now working but the failover is not. It says: kernel: arpresolve: can't allocate llinfo for {WAN2 IP}

    Have you tried it with the eicar test virus http://eicar.org/85-0-Download.html.  See if that shows some logs.  Also, do you have squid/havp setup properly?

    Thanky for you reply. The freeRADIUS was configured right but there was a mistake in the data sheet of the cisco switch. The SG200 Series is NOT able to do dynamic VLAN assignment. CISCO sent me new switches of the SG300 series an now it is working fine. For anybody else how wants to know more about freeRADIUS configuration and EAP could read this thread: http://forum.pfsense.org/index.php/topic,33582.0.html

    Yeah the IPv6 branch was updated yesterday. Also note there was a bug in the interface handling on the latest Unbound package, which I have just fixed and bumped the version number. It wouldn't have affected you unless you were selecting multiple interfaces.

    Yes, it is correct. There is a package manager which allows you to install different supported packages. One of them is squid 2.7stable or 3.x beta

    @jimp: It's probably something that has been fixed in the new imspector package that isn't out yet. It's still a work-in-progress. (If you are running amd64 you can install it though) Thanks for the quick reply jimp! Another reason why I should switch platforms…LOL.. I'll wait for the i386 to be release and retest then.

    Last I heard logmein didn't work through a proxy, at least a transparent one. Have you tried hardcoding that PC to use the proxy directly in the network settings? Alternately, you can put the IP/hostname for logmein into the destination bypass field in the proxy config.

    You could disable the main transparent mode checkbox, and craft your own NAT rule to send only his specific IP into the proxy. Though you must keep in mind that when working in transparent mode you will not see HTTPS traffic, and also that only tracks web access, it does not track anything else such as torrents, ftp, tor, and so on.

    Correct. WSUS requires a domain, and must be run on (at the very least) a member server (Server 2003/2008) of that domain.  Only computers/servers joined to said domain will receive updates from said WSUS server.  Plugging a computer into the same network isn't enough, it must be joined to the domain. WSUS is geared for enterprise environments, requires a domain controller and knowledge of Active Directory, can be configured to target machines (eg by groups such as workstations, servers, laptops, or by department; Finance, Sales, etc). Squid caching would be ideal for a PC/tech shop, home use where bandwidth is a concern, low limit data plans etc.

    Same here. Since 18th snort refuses to start. I found lots of errors regarding the config-file, but after changing the offending entries, still doesn'T start. But at console it starts and then shows as started in the webgui. When i try to start (restart) snort via Webgui, still refuses to start. I have it disabled at the moment. :(

    Thanks for helping me. The site appears "live" because it is the browser's default search, when the site takes too long to answer this happens, it is normal. But I have released the mail.google.com and continues with the same problem. From what I gather, the problem is on port 443 that somehow is not being accessed.
