I think the name of the corresponding box would be enough for me.
I can see that WAN-IPs are a bit complicated in a more complicated setup…

Access it by IP address, not hostname.

Once you have accessed it by IP address (which should work) you can add the hostname you are using under System > Advanced, on the Admin tab. There's a field there for custom hostnames.

I sent you this via e-mail, but I figured I'd update the thread so others would know:

Somehow you had an invalid/incompete (but disabled) config for RFC 2136 Dynamic DNS updates. The upgrade code for that was apparently very broken, and it caused the config upgrade to bomb/fail.

I fixed the upgrade code and on a test VM your config upgrades properly now.

Wait for the next snapshot or two and then give it another try.

    @dotdash:

That PR is in regards to a GB adapter. I have used the DUB-E100 (which is a 10/100 USB 2.0 device) with only minor issues. If you need GB speeds, you shouldn't be using a USB adapter.

and the referenced forum post includes folks complaining about the DUB-E100, presumably a later rev of the hardware. So 10/100-only doesn't help.

Sorry for my impatience. I think that I didn't formulate the subject text very well.

What do you say about that? Would this be much work? Can't imagine that I'm the only one who'd need that but who knows.
I understand that there are other features/issues to be taken care of with much higher priority though.

Just wanted to know IF you would do that some time, or not. If not I'd need to help myself by editing everytime and doing something dirty because I know nothing about php :) after each upgrade.

    Thnx for any answer!

I just spend an hour walking the rest of my team through the changes I made last night, and the graphs worked fine on Windows / Firefox.  I'm using OSx and Safari..

We're probably just going to build a smarthost on the lan that can forward admin mail for all local servers to our smtp server.

That is probably related to this bug:

Does that happen with every browser or just certain ones?

Usually the table overflows like that only happen if something is forcing a field to not wrap when it normally does.

In this case, I suspect it's the combination of queue names and long alias names.

There may not be a good way to avoid that kind of overspill.

For point 1, open a bug ticket on http://redmine.pfsense.org/ it can be looked at.

For point 2, open a feature request at the same place. :-)

It seems like a reasonable request, and given that the individual interfaces get them, it is sort of expected that it continue to work that way in groups.

This is a great discussion and a valid one at that. I'm no expert, but wouldn't this be better implemented as a function of the network adapter and at the switch level? Layer 1 function?

Why burden the firewall software anymore?

    @JorgeAldoBR:

Its there any plan to use PAM or a more flexible user manager ?

We have RADIUS, LDAP, and local users. 2.0 won't have anything further than that. May change in the future.

OK.  I found the problem.  Fixed, working now.

The problem was that I followed the tutorial for the Mobile client setup initially.  Which is what I had set up before with Cisco equipment.  However, in reality, what I wanted was a Site2Site setup between two boxes with dynamic IPs.

Once I went back and started over and didn't enable Mobile Client Support on the 'Server' side, everything fell into place.

There's a ticket open for ntop.

Sometime after the version in 1.2.3, the dependency list got huge. It wants to install parts of X, gnome, and a ton of other things. There's a lot to go wrong there, unfortunately.

im aware of the model but personally the only good use i can make of it is to block p2p currently, mayb it can do a lot more but using nanobsd on the alix board, wouldnt it be a bit more heavy duty for hardware muscle this small reducing the throughput?

y dont each of use mention what they would want in L7, provided its capable of it, this way the objectives can be more clear.

That may be a desirable thing for the time being, annoys me to reinstall packages every time when you upgrade your systems several times a month. Normally yeah it should do that though.

I just installed 1.2.3 this afternoon and found the release button isn't working. i did the packet capture and the pfsense didn't do anything when i hit release compared to when i did a renew which it sent out a few DHCP packets.

Tried to do it via CLI but dhclient command didn't have -r option either.

Is there a way to do DHCP release on 1.2.3 or it only worked on 2.0 BETA?

    Thanks,
