@stephenw10: Hmm, yes. Didn't take anything like that even on my ancient Celeron. Running from an SSD though. Can you see what it's waiting for at the console? Try hitting Ctrl+T a few times to see what process is actually running. Steve the tar program

Hi, squid comes as a package from the community. Even if many of the developers contribute code to this package this is still a community package and as long as the author of this package or someone else does not add a tutorial to the wiki then there won't be any. I myself developed a package for pfsense and I added a tutorial to the wiki and I tried to help in a separte post and I appreciated any help in documentation but I do not know of anyone who posted just one line to the wiki. I added the posts from the forum but noone else did. So you can see that packages from the community can be well documented or the aren't. I assume that most of the features of the pfsense base system is well documented - at least in the pfsense book and/or wiki.

@doktornotor: 1/ You cannot. 2/ Get a supported pfSense version, not one with tons of security issues! If pfSense Supported version as you mentioned work well, i will get ! They updated each time there is ton of bugs ! also i am not talking about packages what is make useful pfsense as a squidguard squid etc … I wrote also pfSense team about this subjects they said to me its not our issue to 3rd packages ! Some progress.  I had to create each group, save it, then hit save again under the Groups tab, wait for it to populate under the Users tab (manually running dansguardian_ldap.php did NOT populate the group immediately), hit save, then repeat for every group.  I now have what I'm told is the complete list of users.  I also had to restore the "Default" group from backup. I have now set the default group to deny access, and have set up all the other grous for thier appropriate access.  Now when a user configures the proxy, they are simply denied, never taken to a page to verify credentials.  I can't add this firewall to the domain I'm working on as per https://forum.pfsense.org/index.php/topic,58700.0.html .  if I set the default back to allowed the person can get through.  Is there someplace I need to turn on the ability to have the thing ASK for credentials if none are presented?

If your ISP is proxying HTTPS then it's time to find a new ISP.  Are you getting browser warnings when going to HTTPS sites?

I have been trying to fix this - have removed DG package and reinstalled again but of course it recreates all the config from config.xml, which has a LOT of DG stuff in there. So it still falls over in a heap. How can I remove all the DG stuff from config.xml, or alternatively load DG with all default settings? Had a quick look in viconfig but there isn't a simple <dansguardian></dansguardian>section I can just remove. ta
