@rcoleman-netgate said in Netgate 6100 Max - Only showing 13G (ufs) but have 128gb: Any M- and B-key NVMe drive* Doh! That's a very good point. I completely forgot about that! @umitdk take note if you're considering buying your own. It should be under warranty though. Steve

You can do that but you don't need 2 NICs to do it. The 1100 can do that using the LAN and OPT ports. Or using VLANs on the LAN port with an external managed switch. Steve

@bitlo I think they’ve been out of stock for a while so not sure they could replace yours if they wanted. Personally I’m not going back to Netgate hardware for the foreseeable future.

It does sounds like it might be. Try running at the command line: etherswitchcfg If it complains there is no switch device that's a problem. Make sure you do a full power cycle on it to reset the switch chip if you have not already. Rebooting does not do that. Steve

@bmeeks Thanks for the direction! It was indeed a stuck update. The only package I had installed was openvpn-client-export, but I ran a pfSense-upgrade via SSH and it indeed had packages that needed to be updated. Ran through that, rebooted, and now the packages are showing up to date and the LED is gone! Off to the datacenter!

@quasaur The issue at hand here is the driver hasn't been written for Apple Silicon by Prolific yet. There are a number of (not-free) apps in the Apple App Store that can supplant the driver need and allow you to do the direct-action in the OS to the device -- I've used a few of these over the years myself. And I haven't found a single USB->Serial device it cannot process yet. You may find recommendations in the forum here from other users for Console applications for macOS that would fit the bill. I know of at least two that have 15- or 30-day free, no subscription trials that you can test run with to see if they fit your needs.

@stephenw10 I had already removed everything in /var/log and I didn't have any packages installed on this particular machine. The good news is I was able to reinstall the OS with very little pain and since I had XML backups I was able to get up and running again on newer version

Mmm, the 3100 should pass far more than that with a clean config if traffic conditions allow. Do you have packages installed? Traffic shaping enabled? Steve

Hmm, well unassigned interfaces should not be a problem there. Additionally VLANs are specifically excluded from the check as a subinterface type: https://github.com/pfsense/pfsense/blob/master/src/etc/inc/util.inc#L2415 So I would have guess it was something else. Not sure what that could have been though. Steve

@stephenw10 Thank you for the information. The WIFI have 3 difference SSIDs/VLANs plus the main one on it. I would like to use the port as a TRUNK. The simplest would be 1 VLAN for 1 AP, assign to separate port. That is not I wanted to do. Bridging is not a recommended then I just leave it as it is. It is working very well now, better not to touch it. Thank you very much Pat

To be clear, there is no VGA/HDMI output on the 4100 or 6100. Steve

@bobsoul these guys disagree. They shouldn’t have to read/know the documentation or best practices https://forum.netgate.com/topic/173092/pfsense-22-05-wireguard-dependency-not-documented Congrats and thank you for taking the time to educate yourself. Really was a breath of fresh air.

You should be able to upgrade that in place to reach 22.05. But, I agree, coming from 2.4.5p1 I would probably install clean and restore. Steve

In Interfaces LAN there is a field 'Switch port'. That will use the external switch port status for the interface since the physical NIC on the 1100 is internal and always UP. By default that should be set to port 2 (the LAN port). If it's set to port 1 it will reload when the OPT port links. You can set it to 'Select the switch port' and it will no longer reflect external changes there. Steve
