I have been experiencing this issue for a while now, so it is nice to know the cause! I updated the redmine and posted screenshots of the issue. https://redmine.pfsense.org/issues/15274

@pulsartiger The database name is vnstat.db and its location is under /var/db/vnstat. With "Backup Files/Dir" we are able to do backup or also with a cron.

@Gertjan Whenever it is a full hour I see stuff like this in my logs: https://otx.alienvault.com/indicator/ip/94.16.122.152 It seems to be time servers but it's a TOR node and some private person hosting traefik? I feel like this should not show up? It originates from my ASUS access point. But it is also related to when the emerging threats get updated. All happens at the full hour mark. I don't know why some random private persons ntp server gets queried.

@jhg said in NUT fails to start after 2.7.2 -> 2.8.0 upgrade: Interesting. I would have thought the initial reboot, which occurred as part of the upgrade, would have done the trick, but it took a second reboot, just now, to get things working. Glad you have it sorted. There was no difference in the output of usbconfig show_ifdrv at any point -- before or after unplugging/replugging the USB cable, nor after rebooting. ... Question: What would tell me whether or not a driver was loaded? If there were an attached driver, it should have shown up with the show_ifdrv command. If you use the command and look at the other usb devices, I think they will show attached drivers. I don't expect to see a driver attached to the ups, because there is a quirk that tells the OS to ignore that device (and not attach a driver). Look for idVendor and idProduct in the above output. The Vendor ID for your device is 0764, which corresponds to Cyber Power Systems, and the Product ID for your device is 0601, which is registered as "PR1500LCDRT2U UPS" (don't sweat an exact match for the name). You can see the quirk with the following command: [25.07-RC][root@fw]/root: usbconfig dump_device_quirks | grep 0764 VID=0x0764 PID=0x0005 REVLO=0x0000 REVHI=0xffff QUIRK=UQ_HID_IGNORE VID=0x0764 PID=0x0501 REVLO=0x0000 REVHI=0xffff QUIRK=UQ_HID_IGNORE VID=0x0764 PID=0x0601 REVLO=0x0000 REVHI=0xffff QUIRK=UQ_HID_IGNORE [25.07-RC][root@fw]/root: Your device is third on the list. The HID_IGNORE quirk says to ignore the device and not attach a driver. @jhg said in NUT fails to start after 2.7.2 -> 2.8.0 upgrade: You might consider adding this resolution to the release notes for 2.8. LOL... sorry, I don't have input to the release notes (I don't work here). While I wrote and maintain various packages, including NUT, I'm still just a volunteer. Most packages are actually written by volunteers.

@EChondo What's your pfSense version ? The instructions are shown here : [image: 1753262126227-1acdc586-cb29-4148-9e36-81ade4e5e60c-image.png] A restart of a service will start by re creating their config files. If a certificate changed, it will get included. When the process starts, it will use the new certificate. @EChondo said in Issue with ACME Certificates Refresh & Restarting HAProxy: I haven't been able to confirm if the above works(mine just renewed, don't feel like doing it again just to test), so we'll see in 60 days I guess. No need to wait x days. You can re test / renew right away, as you are 'allowed' to renew a couple (5 max ?) of times per week.

This still seems to be an issue, and makes the Tailscale client unreliable. I have 4 nodes down now with expiry disabled, after some unknown time, and then a router reboot they can no longer authenticate. Error executing command (/usr/local/bin/tailscale status) # Health check: # - not logged in, last login error=invalid key: API key does not exist unexpected state: NoState From the CLI I can run tailscale login, and it re-authenticates the same node, I can tailscale down + up and it connects fine, status on the webpage looks good, but if I reboot or restart the Tailscale service in the webpage it can no longer connect again with the same error needing to login again. The only way to make it work reliably is to clear the config, delete the node and reconnect as a new node. Pfsense 2.7.2, Tailscale package 0.1.4

This is still an issue as of 2.8.0 / 25.07, and it drives me crazy. Gateway failure works as expected, the wireguard tunnels will fail over to the backup gateway and continue on as normal, but will never recover once the failed gateway comes back online. While a reboot will (usually) fix it, I usually just go into my routing settings and mark the secondary gateway as down, forcing it to revert back to the primary... the users tend to dislike it when I reboot the firewall in the middle of the day

rajbps: Did you try to access the site in question using a different router? I found that independent from using Squid or not that I can resolve the name, but I cannot ping or browse this site. It looks as if it is down.

Ok I found the problem - it looks like a "bug" with the combination of Squid and Dans Guardian. I first installed Squid, and then Dans Guardian. I configured squid to authenticate with LDAP against an AD server, and tested this successfully. Then I set up groups (which populate from AD) and access lists within Dans Guardian, and found that these lists were ignored whenever a user authenticated. The solution was this: In the General tab for Dans Guardian, the auth-plugins was set to proxy-basic.   If you change this to anything else (eg ident) and restart DG, then go back and change this setting to proxy-basic and restart DG, the access lists are then correctly accessed and applied to Groups. Just to make absolutely sure, I re-installed pfsense/squid/dg on a fresh box with the above functionality, and can confirm that this simple toggle is needed to get DG to use the correct access lists assigned to groups. Thanks for your prompt suggestion and I hope my experience helps others.

this is the pcre issue on dansguardian 2.12.0 dansguardian patches are already submited to freebsd ports. After it, a pcre issues-free version of dansguardian package version will be released.  :) http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/query-pr.cgi?pr=175341

I fixed it by uninstalling all packages that require pearl (the last one you uninstall will also uninstall pearl), then when I reinstalled squid and lightsquid which reinstalled pearl. All the cache and logs created by squid were still there, no data loss.

@Nachtfalke: Suggestion: If you connect to the target only with the IP address then you can perhaps do some "RegExp" for the IP range you would like to use. Lets say for subnet 80.10.10.0/24 try to use: ^http://80\.10\.10\.[1-254]/ I am no RegEx expert so this is probably wrong but the idea behind that could perhaps help you. I'll try that.  I'm asking this because i need to let users access a range of network expressed in CIDR, via SquidGuard target categories tab… Thanks a lot Nachtfalke

Okay, I am not sure what exactly fixed my issue but this is the sequence of things I tried.  I decided to update to the latest 2.1beta snapshot and that broke my haproxy-full package totally (wasn't able to start the haproxy service).  To fix that issue, I re-install the haproxy-full package but kept my existing configuration.  After the re-install, haproxy service started successfully and I am able to access the haproxy stats page now! I hope that will help anyone with similar issue as mine.

@ciambellone: I think: "var/etc/haproxy.cfg" without quotermarks. It probably will be on/usr/local/etc/haproxy.conf @ciambellone: At the end, what is my scope? I want to set the configuration described to the following article: http://blog.exceliance.fr/2012/08/25/haproxy-varnish-and-the-single-hostname-website/ For you is it possible? I've never tried this setup yet.
