Ìam trying to use dynamic templates ([server-template] (https://www.haproxy.com/blog/dns-service-discovery-haproxy)) but pfSense names the servers unexpectedly [image: 1754569386169-3d2b5842-fb36-4e70-b305-a99d0ca4b9f1-image.png] I did expect these to be generated at runtime after an actual request (providing a hostname that is internally resolved to an internal IP) "Internet" says pfsense does not support this in their HA package - but the haproxy.cfg looks alright - so iam not sure where the problem lies. so to get server-template i need to set 0.0.0.0 in pfSense GUI) as IP, but HA configuration guides says i need to set _domain.topdomain as address for the template to work dynamically

@pulsartiger The database name is vnstat.db and its location is under /var/db/vnstat. With "Backup Files/Dir" we are able to do backup or also with a cron.

@Gertjan Whenever it is a full hour I see stuff like this in my logs: https://otx.alienvault.com/indicator/ip/94.16.122.152 It seems to be time servers but it's a TOR node and some private person hosting traefik? I feel like this should not show up? It originates from my ASUS access point. But it is also related to when the emerging threats get updated. All happens at the full hour mark. I don't know why some random private persons ntp server gets queried.

@jhg said in NUT fails to start after 2.7.2 -> 2.8.0 upgrade: Interesting. I would have thought the initial reboot, which occurred as part of the upgrade, would have done the trick, but it took a second reboot, just now, to get things working. Glad you have it sorted. There was no difference in the output of usbconfig show_ifdrv at any point -- before or after unplugging/replugging the USB cable, nor after rebooting. ... Question: What would tell me whether or not a driver was loaded? If there were an attached driver, it should have shown up with the show_ifdrv command. If you use the command and look at the other usb devices, I think they will show attached drivers. I don't expect to see a driver attached to the ups, because there is a quirk that tells the OS to ignore that device (and not attach a driver). Look for idVendor and idProduct in the above output. The Vendor ID for your device is 0764, which corresponds to Cyber Power Systems, and the Product ID for your device is 0601, which is registered as "PR1500LCDRT2U UPS" (don't sweat an exact match for the name). You can see the quirk with the following command: [25.07-RC][root@fw]/root: usbconfig dump_device_quirks | grep 0764 VID=0x0764 PID=0x0005 REVLO=0x0000 REVHI=0xffff QUIRK=UQ_HID_IGNORE VID=0x0764 PID=0x0501 REVLO=0x0000 REVHI=0xffff QUIRK=UQ_HID_IGNORE VID=0x0764 PID=0x0601 REVLO=0x0000 REVHI=0xffff QUIRK=UQ_HID_IGNORE [25.07-RC][root@fw]/root: Your device is third on the list. The HID_IGNORE quirk says to ignore the device and not attach a driver. @jhg said in NUT fails to start after 2.7.2 -> 2.8.0 upgrade: You might consider adding this resolution to the release notes for 2.8. LOL... sorry, I don't have input to the release notes (I don't work here). While I wrote and maintain various packages, including NUT, I'm still just a volunteer. Most packages are actually written by volunteers.

@EChondo What's your pfSense version ? The instructions are shown here : [image: 1753262126227-1acdc586-cb29-4148-9e36-81ade4e5e60c-image.png] A restart of a service will start by re creating their config files. If a certificate changed, it will get included. When the process starts, it will use the new certificate. @EChondo said in Issue with ACME Certificates Refresh & Restarting HAProxy: I haven't been able to confirm if the above works(mine just renewed, don't feel like doing it again just to test), so we'll see in 60 days I guess. No need to wait x days. You can re test / renew right away, as you are 'allowed' to renew a couple (5 max ?) of times per week.

This still seems to be an issue, and makes the Tailscale client unreliable. I have 4 nodes down now with expiry disabled, after some unknown time, and then a router reboot they can no longer authenticate. Error executing command (/usr/local/bin/tailscale status) # Health check: # - not logged in, last login error=invalid key: API key does not exist unexpected state: NoState From the CLI I can run tailscale login, and it re-authenticates the same node, I can tailscale down + up and it connects fine, status on the webpage looks good, but if I reboot or restart the Tailscale service in the webpage it can no longer connect again with the same error needing to login again. The only way to make it work reliably is to clear the config, delete the node and reconnect as a new node. Pfsense 2.7.2, Tailscale package 0.1.4

This is still an issue as of 2.8.0 / 25.07, and it drives me crazy. Gateway failure works as expected, the wireguard tunnels will fail over to the backup gateway and continue on as normal, but will never recover once the failed gateway comes back online. While a reboot will (usually) fix it, I usually just go into my routing settings and mark the secondary gateway as down, forcing it to revert back to the primary... the users tend to dislike it when I reboot the firewall in the middle of the day

you were right.  I have been messing with the preprocessor rules and the various categories.  It's working now, but i noticed the "Sensisitive data searches for CC or SS# in data" make it crash with no rule sets enabled. weird.  thanks for your help. Are the ET rules better than the snort rules?  What is a desired combination that isn't too restrictive, but blocks incoming attacks. I am not as much worried about outgoing issues.

For anyone that runs into this, I fixed my error. First and foremost make sure squid is working 100% before you go and add dansguardiand or squidGuard into the mix. This thread has some good info on how to test and verify that your squid proxy works correctly. http://forum.pfsense.org/index.php?topic=26171.5 Also a couple notes… In squidGuard, if you make a change; any change, make sure you press the "apply" button on the "proxy filter" –> "general settings" page, then restart your squid service. Restarting the squid service will also make the squidGuard service restart. In squid having both "Disable X-Forward" and "Disable VIA" make it appear that you are not using a proxy. I would suggest not checking them until you are certain your squid installation is working the way you want. Squid is enabled on my home network, I found that Steam will not work with a proxy enabled. Not sure if this fix/hack is kosher, but it works. I set my "LAN" sub net (xx.xx.xx.xx/24) in the "Bypass proxy for these source IPs". In testing it appears that squid still blocks web sites from being viewed, but does not stop Steam or our X360 from having connection errors. You do not need to set NAT rules if you are on pfSense 2.0x. Just setting the "Transparent proxy" box will make it work.

You will need to install the Squid (v2 of squid) or Squid3 (v3 of squid) package to get the Services->Proxy Server menu item. Check the Packages forum for lots of information about Squid configuration.

@deddric: i cant really think that people that are using this solution wont have correct client ips of the visitors. Most reverse proxies does it. You need to set a header var with x-forwarded-for or similiar to get it on web server and change it's log to include it. Take a look on http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.2/mod/mod_proxy.html at Reverse Proxy Request Headers

Thanks for the info. Do you happen to know of any packages that will allow me to do the following: On the LAN interface, I need to create filter rules which, based on MAC address can redirect DHCP requests to a different port. I'd like to implement multiple DHCP pools and send clients to specific DHCP servers based on their MAC.
