@NRgia said in Suricata on Pfsense: @bmeeks Thank you for what you did for Snort or Suricata. I'm not sure what you want me to do on Redmine, due to is a bug tracker. My question is for Product Management, which I will ask it here to be public: What is the plan for these 2 packages, Suricata and Snort? Thank you Yes, Redmine is for both bug reports and feature requests. Asking for the Suricata binary to be updated to the latest 7.0.11 version from upstream is a legitimate Redmine request. I would suggest simply asking for the binary version update instead of asking about future Netgate strategy (such as the support plans for the packages). Strategy discussions typically don't get very far because they deal with proprietary information or plans that a company may not want to publicly discuss. Redmine is where the Netgate developer team tracks all the code changes they make for pfSense. They will see Redmine reports much quicker than a forum post.

@Leon-Straathof Data retention settings are handled inside of ntopng. Documentation here. Pay attention to the RRD note. Also, if you've turned on some of the slice and dice time series information (is off by default), I'd suggest turning them back off. These balloon the storage requirements and are of little actual use.

@tinfoilmatt said in Failed or invalid Mime Type: [application/SIMH-tape-data|0]: (ASN data is IPinfo, not Maxmind) Thats correct but "GeoLite2-Country" is from Maxmind ... (that confused me) I'm considering simply adding "application/SIMH-tape-data" to the list to test. Thats what i tought too ... I'll try when I have the time for it ... Edit: I can confirm - adding "application/SIMH-tape-data" to the list at line 257 in /usr/local/pkg/pfblockerng/pfblockerng.inc did the trick - no more error! Edit: OK, problem resolved but I would like to know, whats the cause for that error! (SIMH-tape-data sounds like a "blast from the past" ...) Thanks a lot!

@jhg said in NUT fails to start after 2.7.2 -> 2.8.0 upgrade: Interesting. I would have thought the initial reboot, which occurred as part of the upgrade, would have done the trick, but it took a second reboot, just now, to get things working. Glad you have it sorted. There was no difference in the output of usbconfig show_ifdrv at any point -- before or after unplugging/replugging the USB cable, nor after rebooting. ... Question: What would tell me whether or not a driver was loaded? If there were an attached driver, it should have shown up with the show_ifdrv command. If you use the command and look at the other usb devices, I think they will show attached drivers. I don't expect to see a driver attached to the ups, because there is a quirk that tells the OS to ignore that device (and not attach a driver). Look for idVendor and idProduct in the above output. The Vendor ID for your device is 0764, which corresponds to Cyber Power Systems, and the Product ID for your device is 0601, which is registered as "PR1500LCDRT2U UPS" (don't sweat an exact match for the name). You can see the quirk with the following command: [25.07-RC][root@fw]/root: usbconfig dump_device_quirks | grep 0764 VID=0x0764 PID=0x0005 REVLO=0x0000 REVHI=0xffff QUIRK=UQ_HID_IGNORE VID=0x0764 PID=0x0501 REVLO=0x0000 REVHI=0xffff QUIRK=UQ_HID_IGNORE VID=0x0764 PID=0x0601 REVLO=0x0000 REVHI=0xffff QUIRK=UQ_HID_IGNORE [25.07-RC][root@fw]/root: Your device is third on the list. The HID_IGNORE quirk says to ignore the device and not attach a driver. @jhg said in NUT fails to start after 2.7.2 -> 2.8.0 upgrade: You might consider adding this resolution to the release notes for 2.8. LOL... sorry, I don't have input to the release notes (I don't work here). While I wrote and maintain various packages, including NUT, I'm still just a volunteer. Most packages are actually written by volunteers.

I have Wireguard installed on my firewalls. I have about 12 firewalls and most of them connect back to the main firewall which allows the connection to the servers in the main building. I setup a tunnel on each and then added each location as a peer on the Main firewall. This seemed to work except that the gateway. unde3r Monitor IP it only allows one IP address. So the first one works and shows connected fine, but the other 2 are red and do not connect. Everything seems to work until I added a 3rd peer and then the 1st peer showed as if it was offline even though it looked fine and I was able to connect to devices on that network. Am I supposed to add multiple gateways to the Main firewall so that shows as up? Is this the right way for the tunnels between the buildings which need access will work - By adding a tunnel at that location and just adding a peer to the main location?

In this case i would simply remove the pfsense squid package and install the squidpackage with pkg_add -r packagename.

@nl: I've found the problem : Disable loopback interface in squid and everything goes on. I've checked my squid.conf after applying your method and I think I understand now - your fix does exactly the same thing as mine. Simply after adding loopback interface squid puts incorrectly http_port 127.0.0.1:3128 thus disabling next line with transparent option, so it's a slight change in GUI interpretation in the latest version of squid package.

Thanks jimp ;D, sorry I should of said I was setting it up behind an Untangle box, tried it with a straight connection to the internet and brought up packages no problem. The command also worked when behind the untangle box. Once I get pfSense all set up I will replace Untangle and have Untangle in transparent bridge mode. Once again thanks  ;D

Hi, the problem with acc_users was that the service dind't start in any case. There was an error while starting freeRADIUS. The problem with "php: : Not calling package sync code for dependency freeradiussettings of freeradius because some include files are missing". I didn't get the past weeks but it comes up again - but radius is working. I have this still with squid but squid is working, too.

@rambabu_mail: Thank you very much for your reply bill, Can you please explain how to configure it properly. I can see yahoo and msn chats but not gtalk. I have created the certificate through Cert Manager gui as an internal certificate and provided the same in Imspector configuration. Is this correct. Are there any steps required. Pls help. You configured the Certificate Authority and the system cert?  That's all you should need.  Again the error implies that the Google server didn't present a cert (which is rather odd).  Maybe something else is intercepting your chats? –Bill --Bill

Have you found a solution to this?  I am trying to figure out how to control how much history is analyzed by lightsquid?  Not sure whether to leave the log rotato variable in squid blank, etc.  Thanks.

Closing all ports on the WAN site will help you to prevent someone to get access to your network from OUTSIDE your LAN. snort will work on your LAN side. it could detect if a virus or a trojan or a hacker who got access for example over wifi to your LAN network initiates traffic from LAN to WAN. In general you do not really need this in a home environment with less clients and if you know who has access to this/your network.

to be a good net citizen, I would highly recommend either of the following with fetch. Of course that will require you to leave an unmodified copy of the file on your system, such as not deleting from /var/tmp/moreHosts. from man fetch: -i file     If-Modified-Since mode: the remote file will only be                 retrieved if it is newer than file on the local host.  (HTTP                 only) -m          Mirror mode: if the file already exists locally and has the                 same size and modification time as the remote file, it will                 not be fetched.  Note that the -m and -r flags are mutually                 exclusive. Also from your script, your assuming /var/backups exists you might want to modify your script to check for its existence, and then use mkdir -p which will create all needed directories. Just my $0.02.

Well, if you mess your configuration, you can just press the Save and Apply buttons in the squidguard configuration page. It seems that you enabled the safesearch option (rew safesearch in your config file). In other hand, have you ever updated your blacklist? Because there aren't dest option in your file, here is my squidguard.conf file: # ============================================================ # SquidGuard configuration file # This file generated automaticly with SquidGuard configurator # (C)2006 Serg Dvoriancev # email: dv_serg@mail.ru # ============================================================ logdir /var/squidGuard/log dbhome /var/db/squidGuard # dest blk_BL_adv { domainlist blk_BL_adv/domains urllist blk_BL_adv/urls        redirect http://[pfsense_ip]:81/sgerror.php?url=blank_img } # dest blk_BL_aggressive { domainlist blk_BL_aggressive/domains urllist blk_BL_aggressive/urls } # dest blk_BL_alcohol { domainlist blk_BL_alcohol/domains urllist blk_BL_alcohol/urls } #Several "dest" options....   # rew safesearch { s@(google\..*/search?.*q=.*)@\1\&safe=active@i s@(google\..*/images.*q=.*)@\1\&safe=active@i s@(google\..*/groups.*q=.*)@\1\&safe=active@i s@(google\..*/news.*q=.*)@\1\&safe=active@i s@(yandex\..*/yandsearch?.*text=.*)@\1\&fyandex=1@i s@(search\.yahoo\..*/search.*p=.*)@\1\&vm=r&v=1@i s@(search\.live\..*/.*q=.*)@\1\&adlt=strict@i s@(search\.msn\..*/.*q=.*)@\1\&adlt=strict@i s@(\.bing\..*/.*q=.*)@\1\&adlt=strict@i } # acl  { # default  { pass !blk_BL_adv all redirect http://[pfsense_ip]:81/sgerror.php?url=403%20&a=%a&n=%n&i=%i&s=%s&t=%t&u=%u } } I use the shallalist.de blacklist.
