Check that I booted the PF box up this morning and all is working (if you're an administrator you can see this post is being made through that box's ip vs my others through my other ip)…  ??? It's confusing the crap out of me... but I'll keep going on the config and do a few more re-boots and see if it continues to work.. !

Please reinstall using the latest 1.2beta1. Countless bugs have been fixed.

You have been booting from a floppydrive, not from the livecd. Change your bios settings to boot from the cdrom.

well my users are moaning a lot lately that its slower
and my one interface firewall gateway rules are not working at all???

though i will try upgrade again and see what happens

very sorry guy because this isn't mission critical I tend not to bother giving any roll back options. After you have to plan this stuff at work I can't be bothered at home. I do mess around a lot so it may of just been me.  When I went into the IPSEC setup the pass phrase was there but didn't work till I retyped it and resaved it.

Hopfully it will only be me to report it. Thanks for your help etc.

You can interrupt the bootprocess to disable dma-modes before it starts loading the kernel (see http://wiki.pfsense.com/wikka.php?wakka=BootOptions for how to do so). Then once installed simply edit the bootloader config from diagnostics>edit file, save and reboot.

Try booting a FreeBSD 6.2 CD on it, I'm guessing it won't work. If the CD boots, try doing an install and see if it works.

This is a FreeBSD bug, the only way this problem will get fixed is if you could do the test with FreeBSD and if it's still an issue, post back here. Someone can help you get the appropriate info to post to a FreeBSD list to get this resolved.

Not really (at least not when it comes to the blank local console). It you attach your WAN and have some nonsense subnetsettings that conflict with your LAN or some DHCP at WAN that assigns conflicting settings with your LAN you might end up with a broken webgui/network at LAN though.
