@axxxxe said in SG-3100 semi-frozen: pfSense login screen. I entered my username and password and Firefox then hung with "waiting". If the WAN is down the home page/dashboard's checks can take a while to time out. Really anything that does a DNS lookup can take a while especially if multiple DNS servers are configured, since they all need to time out. Possibly disabling the check for new versions might help, but obviously not after the fact. 5 minutes seems like a long time though.

Do not select anything if CPU supports AES-NI.

Hey @Derelict Thanks for the ideas. I've managed to find the issue, and it was an equipment problem on our ISP side. I ran some packet captures on both the internal VoIP VLAN, and the external SBC interface(our phone comes in over the same fiber asour IP, but on a separate interface on the demarcation unit(T-340)), found a lot of dropped packets, moved onto our WAN switch, and saw that there was an EXCESSIVE amount of Tx/Rx errors and collisions on the demarcation interface. When I dug into the interface itself, found that it was only negotiating at half-duplex, which would explain the issues. When I went back through my old config files for the SG-8860, I found that I had to force it into full-duplex mode as the T-340 for some reason will not auto-negotiate to full-duplex, but if I force my side to full, it works just fine, and not a single error since. Thanks again for chiming in. Marc

@jahonix said in EOL hardware: Marvell 88E1543 That's just a PHY as far as I know, not a switch. The C3K SoC has 4 NICs built in and they are using an i350 for the other 4 looking at the specs. Steve

The SG-5100 does not use Coreboot so it's not detected as a compatible device. That message could probably use updating. Steve

@Taz79 said in Can SG-1100 running on 12V battery supply?: It would be fun to know what voltage tolerances the SG-1100 board could handle though (due to design). 13V The Z-Diode at the input limits it. Then there's the 470µF/16V capacitor in parallel. See page 6 in the schematics (this is a v5 schematic, SG-1100 is v7, though) I'd use something like a 1N5400 diode in front of the device. That can handle 3A and has a forward voltage (drop) of 1,0V to 1,2V. The board itself has "Less than 1W thermal dissipation at 1 GHz". That's as much as you'll have on the 1N5400 alone... or damn effective.

ZFS is recommended. If you have 2 x 256GB SSD then use ZFS Mirror - n - Way Mirroring.

@ErniePantuso Yes, we have a newsletter you can sign up to get alerts from us. https://www.netgate.com/resources/newsletters/ You can also enable the RSS widget (on the system dashboard, click the + (plus button), in the upper right side, click the RSS feed. If there is an update you will get a notification on the dashboard saying "Update is available"

I would just purchase a Raspberry Pi or another "Odroid" device if you want to install Debian for learning purposes.

There is no need to set the gateway for IPv6 since there is only one possible route - the default route. If you were to, say, get native IPv6 and maintain the HE tunnel it might be necessary to start policy routing IPv6. I would change the default gateway IPv4 there from Automatic to the failover gateway group that best suits how you want the default IPv4 route to behave.
