Wow... very interesting thread. I found this just yesterday and it takes me half the night to to read it from start to end . Actually I am using a SG-3100 device which I switched to SATA SSD abt. 3 years ago. I was thinking about replacing it with a newer appliance, i.e. a SG-4200, thats why I am looking around here. To be honest, there is no technical reason for that, it was just to keep pfSense at the latest. But just this days a new v25.07 was released so I will keep my SG-3100 for a while. And BTW: the SMART values shows the SSD is still at 94% lifetime, so I can run the device may be until a 4300/4400/4x00 is availabe . Regards

@stephenw10 said in 24.11 upgrade to 25.07: Hmm, I can't replicate that here. Running the config upgrade against your config completes without error in a very short time as expected. That new screenshot looks like it doesn't have access to those URLs. Maybe the files no longer exist? There is a local network, but pfsense has not been started, so the network files cannot be used. Now after restarting the vps, pfsense has been started, but the system is very slow and the CPU is fully occupied [image: 1754453543704-1000022913-resized.jpg]

Also, And I got this from ChatGPT so not sure if its doing aything, but from a CD boot, going to a rescue shell it told me to go to the rescue shell and did: [ -d /sys/firmware/efi ] && echo UEFI || echo BIOS and it told me BIOS, so I think the PC isnt set for UEFI? But if I go to the BIOS diags for the HD it does say UEFI on there somewhere during the diags process.

I have a TP-Link with that chip and it doesn't work in mine. Same, it just shows it's connected, nothing else. Check out this thread: Known working Wireless cards I've tried a few USB NICs and a Ralink was the only one that worked for me. As far as Atheros goes, I've used AR9280, 9380, 0565, but only as internal cards. Good luck.

The first time it hung at Checking config backups consistency..., but the 2nd time (after deleting the boot environment and trying the upgrade again) it was hung at Updating configuration........ I'm not sure if those two locations are significantly different or not. I can probably try again tomorrow if it helps? If we had to, do you think re-installing using the installer and reloading the config would be a good thing to do? I was thinking about doing that, but also a little worried that it would leave me without my working boot environment to go back to.

For reference that's an ugly error but it's only cosmetic. It's safe to upgrade still if you see that after rolling back.

Yup you could though I'm not sure what advantage that might give. But I certainly wouldn't try that until you have a basic UDP server setup and working as expected. Any custom server config is likely to make diagnosing issue more difficult. Start simple, add fun stuff later!

It looks like Kea still has issues with static entries at times pulling an IP out of the pool.

So you're using the CARP IP address for the pfBlockerNG redirects? May I ask why that's necessary?

@lbm_ said in How to update to the latest Tailscale version?: https://pkg.freebsd.org/FreeBSD:15:amd64/latest/All/tailscale-1.84.2_1.pkg pkg: An error occured while fetching package I would recommend verifying the DNS settings in PfSense and verifying date/time is correct. Barring that, try again later and see if it still fails. I was able to successfully run the command on my 2.8.0 install (I didn't install it because I've already installed it) so it seems localized.
